LEWISTOWN, Pa. – Only one unbeaten squad remains in the Central Keystone Youth Football & Cheer League’s (CKYFCL) Midget division after mid-week action on Wednesday evening.
Kish-North remains unblemished on the season after a 35-0 victory while Terrace moved into second place in the league behind a 26-16 victory over Kish-South.
KISH NORTH 35 – JUNIATA 0
REEDSVILLE, Pa. – Kish-North and Juniata met for the second time in four days and the result was the same the second time around as Kish-North reigned supreme by a 35-0 score on Wednesday evening.
Juniata received the opening kickoff and following a short series, the Kish offense went to work. Kish put together a long scoring which was capped off when a Duke Peachey connected with Jase Atherton on a 20-yard pattern to put the host Indians out in front by a 6-0 score. Atherton found Jasper Snook in the end zone on the extra point attempt to make it 8-0.
Following another Kish-North defensive hold the Indians offense needed just one play for Peachey to find Kannon Moyer on a short touchdown pass to put the hosts out in front by a 14-0 tally. Peachey punched in the extra point to extend the Kish-North lead to 15-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Kish was back on the offense in the second quarter as the Indians took a 28-0 advantage to the locker room.
Wyatt Hassinger pushed the Kish-North lead to 21-0 with a run around the right side to the end zone while Moyer scored his second touchdown of the day via the ground with 2:5 to play in the first half to push the Kish-North advantage to 27-0. Colton Baumgardner snuck it up the middle for the extra point, making it 28-0 Kish-North at the half.
Kish-North added one more score in a fast paced second half. Colt Atherton was able to find daylight around the left side and scampered three yards to the end zone to put the Indians up by a 34-0 tally. Jasper Snook rounded out the scoring on the day with an extra point conversion to wrap up a 25-0 Kish-North victory.
Kish-North is back in action on September 17 when it hosts Kish-South. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. Juniata looks to get back on track on September 14 when it travels to Terrace for a 3:00 p.m. affair with the Tigers.
TERRACE 26 – KISH-SOUTH 16
REEDSVILLE Pa. – Isaac Torres and Owen Deans tallied two touchdowns each and Torres added an interception on defense to lead the Terrace Tigers to a 26-16 road victory on Wednesday evening against the Kish-South Indians.
Terrace got the scoring started midway through the first quarter via a 60-yard touchdown run from Torres. Reece Hagerty punched in the extra point to push the Terrace lead to 7-0 with 7:23 to play in the first quarter.
Deans found Piersonn Banks on a 30 yard route later in the first quarter to propel Terrace to a 13-0 lead before Torres pushed the ball across the goal line to push the Tigers to a 14-0 lead at the end of the first frame.
Kish answered back with a clock-chewing drive in the second quarter to get on the board when Easton Trutt connected with Izak Tate to trim the gap to 14-6. The tandem connected on the ensuing two-point conversion to cut the lead to 14-8 with 7:50 to play in the opening half.
Terrace got back on the board midway through the third quarter when Deans bolted to the end zone on a 14-yard burst to build a 20-8 lead.
The Tigers added a touchdown pass to extend the lead to 26-8 in the waning moments of the game.
Kish’s late comeback attempt came up short after Knox Wagner hauled in a Trutt pass and jetted 53 yards to the end zone to cut the deficit to 26-14. Trutt connected with Chase Yoder on the two-point conversion to finalize the scoring a 26-16 tally.
Torres led a power rushing attack for the Tigers with 10 carries for 143 yards. Deans chipped in eight carries for 86 yards.
Trutt led the Kish defense with five stops, while Wagner chipped in four tackles in the loss.
Kish-South is back in action on September 14 when it hosts Burnham. Kickoff is slated for 3:00 p.m. Terrace returns to the gridiron on September 14 when it hosts Juniata for a 3:00 p.m. showdown with the Little Indians.
The CKYFCL is a 501c3 registered non-profit organization benefitting the more than 500 children across a four-county area in Central Pennsylvania. In addition to healthy competition, the league aims to provide an equal opportunity for the youth of Central Pennsylvania to learn important skills in teamwork while forming friendships and bonds that can last a lifetime.
