LEWISTOWN, Pa. – The battle for Kish Midget supremacy was the only game on tap on Wednesday evening as the Kish-North squad defeated their friends turned foes for the evening in the form of the Kish-South squad by a 25-8 tally.

Kish-North got on the board first cashing in on a pass from Jase Atherton to Wyatt Hassinger to wrap up a long scoring drive. Duke Peachey converted the extra point to make it 7-0 Kish-North in the first quarter of action.

As the contest shifted to the second quarter, Kish-North extended its lead to 13-0 when Peachey scampered up the middle to the end zone from the five-yard line.

After a Colt Atherton interception set the North up with good field position, Hassinger was able to weave his way through traffic for a 60-yard touchdown run to build the lead to 19-0.

Kish-South wouldn’t be denied in the second quarter. Chase Yoder took a toss sweep around the left side to score on a long touchdown run to put the South squad on the board. Easton Trutt connected with Izik Tate for a successful pass to make it 19-8 at the intermission.

The second half was a back-and-forth affair with both defenses stifling the opposing offense in a defensive battle.

Kish-North was able to breakthrough courtesy of good field position and used a Peachey touchdown run to round out the scoring at a 25-8 Kish-North advantage.

Following the Peachey score, Kish-South had an opportunity to bridge the gap after a Chase Yoder interception but time ran out in the contest as the North remained unbeaten behind a solid 25-8 victory.

Kish-North puts its unbeaten record on the line on Sunday, September 21 when it hosts Terrace. Kickoff is slated for 3:00 p.m. Kish-South returns to the gridiron on Wednesday, September 24 when it hosts Derry-Decatur for a 5:30 p.m. showdown with the Cyclones.
