REEDSVILLE, Pa. – Kish-North secured the 2025 Central Keystone Youth Football & Cheer League regular season Midget division championship on Wednesday evening behind a hard-fought 21-6 victory over Kish-South.
Defense was the story of the first quarter of play. Kish-North received the opening kickoff but was unable to muster any offense on the game’s opening drive as Kish-South eventually forced a turnover on downs. Kish-South was also unable to move the football on the Kish-North defense as the game remained at a scoreless deadlock after a quarter of play.
With nine minutes to play in the second quarter, Kish-North capitalize on a long drive to take the lead. Julian Altiery found some daylight up the middle for a two-yard score and Duke Peachey ran in the extra point for a 7-0 Kish-North advantage.
A Jase Atherton interception set the Kish-North squad up with good field position before the Indians faced a key fourth down. Peachey weaved his way through traffic for a 15-yard score and then found Atherton on a two-point conversion for a 15-0 Kish-North lead.
The North found the end zone once more before the half. After the defense pushed The South to a fourth and long, Peachey took the punt return from the opponents 40 yard line and sprinted to the end zone to a 21-0 Kish-North lead at the intermission.
Following a scoreless third quarter, Kish-South chipped away at the North’s lead in the 4th quarter with a special teams score from Chase Yoder. Yoder broke tackles and reversed the field en route to a 40-yard punt return for a touchdown to finalize the scoring at a 21-6 tally.
Kish-North is back in action on Sunday, October 19 when it travels to Burnham for a 3:00 p.m. showdown with the Bulldogs. Kish-South returns to the gridiron on Sunday, October 26 when it visits Terrace. Kickoff agains the Tigers is set for 3:00 p.m.
