LEWISTOWN, Pa. – The mid-week slate of games around the Central Keystone Youth Football & Cheer League (CKYFCL) has arrived as two games were contested on Wednesday evening.
Burnham was victorious over Kish by a 20-7 tally, while McVeytown rolled past Derry-Decatur by a 54-20 score.
Burnham 20 – Kish 7
BURNHAM, Pa. – Fresh off of a weekend shutout victory over Derry-Decatur, the Burnham Bulldogs defense turned in another solid effort as the Bulldogs were victorious in mid-week Midget division action by a 20-7 tally over visiting Kish.
Following a scoreless opening frame, Eli Galbraith connected with Malachi Galbraith for the first time on the evening to put the Bulldogs ahead by a 7-0 tally.
Galbraith did it on his own for the next score when he powered his way into the endzone on a quarterback keeper from six-yards out to extend the Burnham lead to 14-0, which is how the first half ended.
Galbraith connected with his sibling one more time in the third quarter on a 35-yard pitch and catch to extend the Bulldogs advantage to 20-0 through three quarters of play.
Brody Hower led the defensive efforts for Kish with an interception in the fourth quarter which also was the lone Kish score on the evening. Hower intercepted a Patience Vodopija pass and sprinted 50 yards the other way for the defensive score.
McVeytown 54 – Derry-Decatur 20
MCVEYTOWN, Pa. – Bentley Felmlee ran for six touchdowns as McVeytown picked up where it left off two weeks ago as the Eagles Midgets rolled past visiting Derry-Decatur by a 54-20 tally.
Felmlee opened the scoring in the first quarter and scored twice in each of the opening three stanzas to send the Eagles to their second victory in a row to start the season.
Josie Sunderland and Treyson Yohn each added scores for McVeytown in the win. Sunderland’s score was a defensive touchdown as the Eagle forced a fumble on a strip sack, recovered the fumble and returned it to the endzone.
Alongside his offensive efforts, Felmlee also led the defense with 10 tackles, while Sunderland and Yohn each added a trio of stops in the win. Brayden Hess and Ace Prough each had an interception, while Felmlee added a fumble recovery as the Eagles forced three Derry-Decatur turnovers on the evening.
Derry-Decatur was led by Drake and Daniel Finefrock as the sibling tandem scored all three of the Cyclones’ touchdowns on the evening.
The CKYFCL is a 501c3 registered non-profit organization benefitting the more than 600 children across a four-county area in Central Pennsylvania. In addition to healthy competition, the league aims to provide an equal opportunity for kids between the ages of 5 and 13 to learn important skills in teamwork while forming friendships and bonds that can last a lifetime.
