LEWISTOWN, Pa. – Rain, wind and anything else that mother nature could muster wasn’t enough to keep the Central Keystone Youth Football & Cheer League (CKYFCL) from opening up the second half of the regular season on Sunday afternoon.

Aside from the action on the field, the league kept its focus on the community as two teams came together to support a good cause. Despite a heated rivalry on the field, the Burnham Bulldogs and McVeytown Eagles joined forces and used the opportunity to raise more than $1,400 to support a local family in need.

The league and both organizations would like to say a special thank you to all fans, friends and supporters who donated towards this special cause.

MIGHTY MIGHTS

Juniata 4 – Terrace 2

JUNIATA TERRACE, Pa. – Ryker Stahl scored twice to lead three different scorers as the Juniata Little Indians completed the season sweep of the Terrace Tigers with a 4-2 victory on Sunday.

Stahl opened the scoring for Juniata in the first quarter with a rushing touchdown to put the visiting Little Indians up by a 1-0 tally.

In the second quarter, James Gehman extended the Little Indians lead with a rushing touchdown of his own to send Juniata to a 2-0 halftime lead.

Out of the halftime break, Stahl sprinted to the house for his second score of the day, but Terrace answered with a score of its own to trim the Juniata lead to 3-1 as the game headed to the final frame.

Wyatt Seiber scored for Juniata in the fourth quarter and Terrace had an answer yet again, but it wasn’t enough as the Little Indians picked up their third win of the season by a 4-2 score.

Kish 8 – Derry-Decatur 1

REEDSVILLE, Pa. – Seven different players struck paydirt to lead the Kish Indians past the visiting Derry-Decatur Cyclones by an 8-1 score on Sunday afternoon.

Quay Vogt got the scoring started when Bennett Harmon connected with him on a 35-yard touchdown pass with 11:25 to play in the first to build a 1-0 Kish lead. Jack Wagner added a score midway through the frame on a 35-yard touchdown run of his own to extend the Indians’ advantage to 2-0 after the first quarter of action.

Vogt added his second touchdown of the day early in the second quarter on another 35-yard, pitch-and-catch connection with Harmon to push the Kish lead to 3-0. Eli Jackson ran it in from 35 yards out and Hughie Harmon punched it in from the five with one tick left in the first half to extend the Kish lead to 5-0 at the intermission.

Kish picked up where it left off in the second quarter, building a 6-0 lead on Layton Glick’s 35-yard touchdown run on the half’s opening play. Derry-Decatur answered midway through the stanza when Camden Hesketh scored from the two-yard line to trim the tally to a 6-1 Kish advantage with 6:05 to play in the third.

Tucker Crone powered into the endzone with 35 ticks to go in quarter number three to build a 7-1 Kish lead as the game shifted to the final frame.

Kish wrapped up another impressive offensive effort with a Luke Russler 15-yard sprint to the house with 1:56 to play to cap off an 8-1 victory.

Oakley Maurer led the Kish defensive unit with five tackles. Brody Bishop, Bennett Harmon, Masen Kipp, Rowin Shaposky and Grady Trutt each added four stops for the Indians defense in the win.

McVeytown 6 – Burnham 4

MCVEYTOWN, Pa. – Knox Hartman scored four times on the afternoon to lead the McVeytown Eagles to a 6-4 victory in a back-and-forth affair with the Burnham Bulldogs.

Stetson Bordell opened the scoring for McVeytown with a 14-yard touchdown run with 10:48 to play in the first quarter to build a 1-0 lead. The touchdown for Bordell was his Mighty Might division-leading 12^th score of the year.

Burnham responded on the ensuing drive with a Robert Davis 35-yard touchdown run to knot the game up at a score each.

Hartman had the final say in the first quarter as the Eagles took a lead they would never surrender. With 5:33 to go in a busy first quarter, Hartman scored on a 25-yard touchdown run to put the Eagles in front by a 2-1 margin. With 17 seconds remaining in the first, Hartman punched it in from the eight-yard line to push McVeytown out to a 3-1 lead as the game headed to the second quarter.

Carter Cherry cut the Burnham deficit in half on a 35-yard touchdown run to open the second frame, bridging the gap to 3-2 in favor of the host Eagles. Following the Cherry score, Hartman struck paydirt for the third time of the day with 1:40 to play in the half, sending McVeytown to the locker room with a 4-2 lead.

Burnham trimmed the gap back to a single score on a Kyson Miller touchdown run early in the third quarter, but it was Hartman yet again having an answer for McVeytown to extend the Eagles lead back to two scores at a 5-3 margin as the game headed to the fourth quarter.

Davis added his second score of the day on an eight-yard jaunt to the house with 13 minutes remaining to bring the score to a 5-4 McVeytown lead. The touchdown for Davis was his team-leading seventh of the season.

McVeytown answered for the final time in the game, this time on a Bryce Seedes touchdown run to wrap up a hard fought 6-4 victory for the Eagles.

The Eagles were led defensively by Layton Yoder and Lucas Moist as the tandem each tallied a fumble recovery in the win.

PEE WEES

Juniata 33 – Terrace 12

JUNIATA TERRACE, Pa. – Abel Yoder and Mason DeLancey each scored twice as the Juniata Little Indians overcame sloppy conditions to pick up a hard-earned 33-12 victory over the host Terrace Tigers on Sunday afternoon.

After a scoreless opening quarter of play, Juniata got on the board in a big way with three scores in the second quarter to take a 21-0 lead to the half. DeLancey powered it across the goal line from the two to push Juniata to a 7-0 lead. Yoder scored his two touchdowns in the second quarter on runs of 2 and 44 yards to push the Little Indians out to a 21-0 lead at the break.

Out of the intermission, Terrace turned to a shutdown defense and a score of its own to trim the Juniata lead to 21-6 which is where the game would stand as it headed to the fourth quarter.

DeLancey found the end zone for the second time on a 15-yard touchdown scamper to push Juniata out to a 27-6 lead. For DeLancey, the touchdown was his team-leading sixth score of the season.

Later in the quarter, Cooper Snyder got in on the scoring with a 24-yard run to the house as Juniata pulled away to a 33-6 advantage.

Terrace responded immediately to the Snyder score as it returned the ensuing kickoff to the endzone but it wasn’t enough as the visiting Little Indians earned their third victory of the season with a 33-12 triumph.

Matthew Tornambe and Easton Eberle lead the Juniata defense with both players recording a fumble recovery in the win.

Kish 26 – Derry-Decatur 0

REEDSVILLE, Pa. – Four different players struck paydirt as the Kish Indians overcame sloppy conditions on Sunday to post their sixth straight shutout victory in a 26-0 triumph over visiting Derry-Decatur.

Following a scoreless opening frame, Wyatt Hassinger and Duke Peachey found the endzone in the second quarter to push Kish to a 12-0 advantage at the intermission.

Easton Trutt extended the Kish lead with a touchdown run on a quarterback keeper in the third as the host Indians owned an 18-0 lead after three quarters of play.

Knox Wagner scampered into the endzone in the fourth quarter to build a 24-0 Kish lead.  Colton Baumgardner threw a pass to Jase Atherton to convert the two-point attempt and round out the scoring to hand the Indians a 26-0 victory.

McVeytown 18 – Burnham 0

MCVEYTOWN, Pa. – Behind three different scorers and another stellar defensive effort, the McVeytown Eagles earned the season sweep of the Burnham Bulldogs with an 18-0 home victory on Sunday afternoon.

McVeytown extended its shutout streak to 12 quarters in the win.

Calvin Napikoski opened the scoring for McVeytown in the first quarter with a five-yard touchdown scamper to put the Eagles up by a 6-0 tally. For Napikoski, the touchdown marked his Pee Wee division-leading eighth score of the season.

Midway through the second quarter, McVeytown extended its lead to 12-0 on a Lincoln Knable touchdown run. The host Eagles got the ball back quickly and used a 40-yard touchdown run from the legs of Mathew Hartsock to build an 18-0 lead at the half.

Both teams were held off the scoreboard in the second half as McVeytown rolled to its fifth victory of the year and fourth in shutout fashion with an 18-0 win over the visiting Bulldogs.

McVeytown was led defensively by three different players posting a fumble recovery each as Cole Laughlin, Alex Weaver and Knable each recorded a recovery of a Burnham miscue in the win.

MIDGETS

Kish 33 – Derry-Decatur 6

REEDSVILLE, Pa. – Brody Hower scored three times on the ground and the defense scored twice as the host Kish Indians rolled to a 33-6 victory over Derry-Decatur.

The victory was Kish’s second of the season and completed the season sweep in the series with the Cyclones.

While Hower’s offensive heroics led the way for Kish, the defense used a pair of pick-sixes to aid the cause as Bronn Zook and Levi Sharp posted interception returns for a touchdown in the victory.

Asher Dupert, Jaxon Espigh, Nolan Harmon, Eli Sutton and Ayden Watson each added sacks to help lead a stellar defensive effort for Kish.

McVeytown 25 – Burnham 19 (2OT)

MCVEYTOWN, Pa. – After a defensive hold to start the second overtime session, Bentley Felmlee scored from the two-yard line to propel the McVeytown Eagles to a hard-fought 25-19 victory over the upset-minded Burnham Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon.

The victory gives McVeytown its second win of the season over Burnham and sends the Eagles to a league-leading five victories.

Felmlee opened the scoring for McVeytown with a 55-yard touchdown romp, but Burnham had an answer as the Bulldogs equalized and sent the game to the second quarter at a 7-7 deadlock.

The game remained at a seven-all draw at the half as both teams fought off sloppy conditions.

Felmlee added another score in the third quarter – this time on a 15-yard run –  but Burnham yet again responded to push the game to a 13-13 tie as the game headed to the fourth.

Both defenses were up to the task in the fourth quarter holding the opposing team off the scoreboard to send the game to overtime.

After regulation concluded with the contest at a 13-13 tie, both teams found the endzone in the first overtime session to extend the contest to a second overtime.

McVeytown’s defense was up to the task as Burnham took possession to start the second overtime. The Eagles defense held Burnham out of the endzone to give the ball back to the offense and Felmlee wasted little time in powering a two-yard burst across the goal line to give McVeytown a 25-19 victory.

Felmlee’s four touchdowns on the day pushed him to a league-leading 21 scores on the season. Aside from his offensive acumen, Felmlee led the defense with 10 stops while Blake Specht chipped in eight tackles in the win.

The CKYFCL is a 501c3 registered non-profit organization benefitting the more than 600 children across a four-county area in Central Pennsylvania. In addition to healthy competition, the league aims to provide an equal opportunity for kids between the ages of 5 and 13 to learn important skills in teamwork while forming friendships and bonds that can last a lifetime.

LEWISTOWN, Pa. – Mid-week action continued for the Central Keystone Youth Football & Cheer League (CKYFCL) as the Pee Wee division saw a full slate of games on Tuesday evening.

McVeytown 22 – Derry-Decatur 0

MCVEYTOWN, Pa. – Another superb defensive effort and an efficient offense led the host McVeytown Eagles to a 22-0 shutout victory over Derry-Decatur on Tuesday evening.

Calvin Napikoski hooked up with Matthew Hartsock for the first score of the evening on a 20-yard pitch and catch with 4:34 to play in the first quarter to hand the Eagles a 7-0 lead.

Late in the second quarter, Alex Weaver added to the McVeytown advantage with a touchdown run to push the lead to 13-0. Napikoski again connected the Hartsock for a two-point conversion as McVeytown owned a 15-0 lead with 4:56 to go in the first half.

McVeytown’s defense pinned Derry-Decatur deep on the ensuing possession before Hartsock capped off the first half scoring by returning a Cyclones punt 25 yards to the house for a 22-0 halftime lead for the host Eagles.

The second half saw a defensive slugfest ensue as both teams were held off the scoreboard and McVeytown cruised to a 22-0 victory.

Weaver led the defense with five stops while Cole Laughlin added three tackles in the win. Napikoski also got in on the action on the defensive end with a fumble recovery.

Burnham 25 – Terrace 6

JUNIATA TERRACE, Pa. – After a scoreless first quarter, Burnham got on the board in the second stanza and its defense did the rest as the Bulldogs rode home with a 25-6 victory on Tuesday evening over the Terrace Tigers.

Burnham led 6-0 at the half and scored 13 third-quarter points to pull away to a 19-0 advantage as the defense looked to pitch a shutout.

Both teams scored in the final frame to wrap up a 25-6 Burnham victory.

Kish 18 – Juniata 0

PORT ROYAL, Pa. – Entering Tuesday night’s matchup with Juniata, the Kish defense had yet to be scored on. Tuesday was no different as the Kish Indians left Juniata with an 18-0 victory and their fourth straight shutout.

Kish got on the board with a pair of first quarter scores. Duke Peachey capped off the game’s opening drive with a touchdown run off the right side to build an early 6-0 Kish lead. Wyatt Hassinger added a score later in the quarter as the visitors owned a 12-0 lead after the first frame.

Peachey added another score in the second quarter to help the Indians take an 18-0 lead into the locker room.

The defenses shined in the second half as neither team found the endzone, but it was Kish reigning supreme by an 18-0 tally over the host Little Indians. Kish’s defensive efforts were capped off by a Knox Wagner interception in the fourth quarter to help secure the victory.

LEWISTOWN, Pa. – Week three of the regular season is in the books, and the first overtime game of the year and a championship rematch highlighted a busy weekend of action across the Central Keystone Youth Football & Cheer League (CKYFCL).

Mighty Mights

Burnham 5 – Juniata 4 (OT)

PORT ROYAL, Pa. – After goal-line-defensive stands from both teams in the first extra session, Carter Cherry scampered across the goal line to hand the Burnham Bulldogs the lead. Burnham’s defense held strong for a second time to hand the Bulldogs a hard-fought 5-4 double-overtime victory over Juniata.

Burnham jumped out to an early 3-1 lead after the opening frame as Brandon Davis, Kyson Miller and Cherry each struck pay dirt to put the Bulldogs out in front. Wyatt Seiber scored the openin g touchdown for the Little Indians in the contest.

Juniata turned the tide on the Bulldogs in the second quarter with a Ryker Stahl touchdown and a solid defensive showing, but it was Burnham owning a 3-2 lead at the half.

Following a scoreless third quarter, Cherry added his second score of the day but the Little Indians answered with scored from Seiber and Stahl to send the game to an extra session.

Both defenses held true in the first overtime, holding their opponent out of the end zone. Cherry scored his third touchdown of the afternoon to break the deadlock and the Burnham defense held Juniata off the scoreboard once again as the Bulldogs escaped with a 5-4 victory in a thriller.

Kish 8 – McVeytown 6

MCVEYTOWN, Pa. – Bennett Harmon scored five touchdowns and contributed eight stops on defense as the Kish Indians outpaced the host McVeytown Eagles by an 8-6 tally.

Jack Wagner got the scoring started for the Indians with a 35 yard touchdown run, but McVeytown had a quick answer. Knox Hartman struck from 20 yards out to equalize the scoring at one each with 6:25 remaining on the first-quarter clock.

Quay Vogt put the Indians back on the board with a 31-yard carry but again the Eagles had an immediate answer. Hartman once again responded in the waning moments of the opening frame to send the game to the second quarter at a 2-2 deadlock.

The back-and-forth scoring continued in the second quarter with five total touchdowns between the two teams, but it was Kish holding a 5-4 lead at the intermission. Harmon scored twice in the second and Wagner added a score for Kish, while Stetson Bordell handled the scoring for the host Eagles with a pair of touchdown runs.

Harmon kept things going for Kish out of the halftime break with a 13-yard touchdown scamper as the Indians defense held McVeytown off the board to take a 6-4 lead into the final quarter of play.

Bordell chipped into the Kish lead with a 20-yard touchdown run but Harmon responded with a touchdown burst of his own with 9:16 remaining.

With three and change to play, Bordell again found the endzone for his fourth score of the day to chip the Kish lead to 7-6.

Harmon’s heroics came up again in the waning moments as the youngster sprinted 35 yards to the endzone to put the game away and hand Kish an 8-6 victory.

Emmet Hostetler and Harmon led the Kish defense with eight tackles each while Vogt and Wagner added five apiece in the win.

McVeytown was led defensively by Bordell’s five stops.

Terrace 6 – Derry-Decatur 2

JUNIATA TERRACE, Pa. – Behind a balanced attack and three scores in each half, the Terrace Tigers rolled to a 6-2 victory on Sunday afternoon over visiting Derry-Decatur.

Terrace tallied two scores in the first and third quarters and added a touchdown in the second and fourth quarters to roll to its first victory of the year.

Pee Wees

Burnham 18 – Juniata 6

PORT ROYAL, Pa. – Ricky Jenkins rushed for 150 yards and scored twice to lead the visiting Burnham Bulldogs to an 18-6 victory over the Juniata Little Indians.

After an early feeling out period for both teams, Jenkins got the scoring started on a 20-yard touchdown run with 3:54 to play in the first quarter to put Burnham out in front by a 6-0 score.

Burnham’s defense held true on Juniata’s ensuing possession before Jenkins extended the lead in the closing seconds of the first. Jenkins burst 60 yards to paydirt with 18 ticks to play in the first as the Bulldogs took a 12-0 lead to the second frame.

The game turned into a defensive slugfest in the second quarter with both squads holding the opponent off the scoreboard, but it was Burnham owning a 12-0 halftime lead.

With 10:10 to play in the third, Burnham added to its lead when Michael Vodopija punched it in on a carry from two yards out to build the Bulldogs’ lead to 18-0 which is where the game would stand after three quarters of play.

Juniata wouldn’t go down without a fight. Reid Delancy picked a pass off at the beginning of the fourth quarter to spark the Little Indians. Cooper Snyder responded with a 64-yard touchdown run to cut the Burnham lead to 18-6.

Both defenses held true over the remaining nine and change as Burnham rode away with an 18-6 victory.

Derry-Decatur 20 – Terrace 7

JUNIATA TERRACE, Pa. – The Terrace Tigers returned the opening kickoff for a score, but Brady Kahley took care of the rest for Derry-Decatur as the Cyclones used a stout defense and solid offensive line play to earn a 20-7 victory over the visiting Tigers.

Terrace’s kick return to open the game was the lone score of the first quarter as the visitors owned a 7-0 lead after the opening frame.

Kahley responded with his first score of the day to tie the contest at 7-7 at the intermission.

Out of the intermission, Kahley took over, scoring twice in the third quarter to push the Derry-Decatur advantage to 20-7.

Following the third-quarter onslaught, the Derry-Decatur defense held true in the fourth quarter to push the Cyclones to their first victory of the season by a 20-7 tally.

Kish 14 – McVeytown 0

MCVEYTOWN, Pa. – In an early season rematch of last season’s Pee Wee Championship, the visiting Kish Indians defended their league championship with a hard-fought 14-0 victory over the McVeytown Eagles.

Both teams came out in a defense-minded mode and held their opponent off the board as the game remained scoreless after the first quarter of play.

After a late-quarter defensive hold, Kish responded on the offensive end with a methodical drive to take the lead. Julian Altiery found the end zone in the second quarter to put Kish ahead by a 6-0 tally. A penalty negated the extra-point attempt as the game remained at a 6-0 Kish advantage.

McVeytown advanced to inside the Kish 25 in the waning moments of the half, but the Eagles ran out of clock as the Indians owned a 6-0 halftime lead.

Out of the halftime break, both defenses dug in and a scoreless third quarter followed.

Midway through the fourth quarter, after another key 4^th-down defensive hold, Kish marched downfield on McVeytown. Duke Peachey took the snap on third and long, and scuooted around the left side of the defense for a long touchdown run to give Kish the 12-0 lead. Peachey connected with Jase Atherton on the two-point conversion to give the visitors a 14-0 lead.

McVeytown looked to respond on the ensuing drive but Jasper Snook had other ideas as the youngster picked off a Calvin Napikoski pass to seal the deal and help hand Kish a 14-0 victory in a battle of the unbeatens.

Midgets

McVeytown 35 – Kish 12

MCVEYTOWN, Pa. – Four different players scored as the McVeytown Eagles displayed a versatile offensive attack in a 35-12 victory over the visiting Kish Indians.

Rocky Johnson opened the scoring with a five-yard touchdown carry in the first quarter to put the Eagles up by a 6-0 tally. Bratton connected with Treyson Yohn on the two-point conversion to put McVeytown up 8-0 after a quarter of play.

Midway through the second quarter, Blake Specht scampered to the endzone on a three-yard carry to extend the McVeytown lead to 15-0. Bentley Felmlee scored the first of his two touchdowns on the day with a 30-yard burst to round out the first-half scoring for the Eagles and send the hosts to a 21-0 halftime lead.

Kish used a pair of special teams plays to chip into the McVeytown lead in the third. Brody Hower and Clayton Fultz each returned kickoffs for scores in the third to get the visiting Indians on the scoreboard while Felmlee added his second score of the day on a 20-yard run to push McVeytown advantage to 28-12.

Bratton added the finishing touches for the Eagles with a quarterback keeper for a score in the fourth quarter to propel McVeytown to a 35-12 victory.

Felmlee led the way for McVeytown with eight tackles, while Brayden Hess added five stops and an interception for the Eagles defense.

Terrace 46 – Derry-Decatur 26

JUNIATA TERRACE, Pa. – Ryker Herrington scored twice on offense and twice on defense to lead the host Terrace Tigers to their second win of the season by a 46-26 tally over visiting Derry-Decatur.

Derry-Decatur took the early lead, but Terrace soon took control and lede by a 28-14 tally after the opening stanza en route to the victory.

Herrington scored with a rushing touchdown, receiving touchdown, strip sack for a score and a pick six in the win.

LEWISTOWN, Pa. – A busy weekend of activities started off on Friday night with Huskies Youth Night and wrapped up on Sunday afternoon with a full slate of games around the Central Keystone Youth Football & Cheer League (CKYFCL).

Mighty Mights

Burnham 7 – Derry Decatur 3

BURNHAM, Pa. – Four different players got on the scoreboard as the host Burnham Bulldogs ran past Derry-Decatur by a 7-3 tally on Sunday afternoon.

Robbie Davis led the four-headed Burnham rushing attack with a three-touchdown afternoon. Kyson Miller added two scores, while Carter Cherry and Cole Kauffman rounded out the scoring for the Bulldogs with a touchdown each in the victory.

Derry-Decatur’s Oliver Rauch opened the scoring for the visiting Cyclones. Waylon Rager kept things going for Derry-Decatur with a pair of touchdown runs in the loss.

Kish 4 – Terrace 0

JUNIATA TERRACE, Pa. –  Bennett Harmon scampered to the end zone twice in the first half to lead three different scorers as the visiting Kish Indians were victorious on Sunday afternoon by a 4-0 tally over the host Terrace Tigers.

Eli Jackson opened the scoring with a seven-yard run to put the Indians up by an early score. Harmon added a 32-yard jaunt in the first quarter and a 29-yard second quarter burst to catapult Kish to a 3-0 halftime lead.

Bennett’s older brother, Hughie,  got in on the scoring in the third quarter with a 35-yard touchdown run as the visiting Indians wrapped up a convincing 4-0 victory over Terrace.

McVeytown 3 – Juniata 1

PORT ROYAL, Pa. – McVeytown scored in each of the opening three quarters of play and were stingy on defense as the Eagles reigned supreme over Juniata by a 3-1 tally.

Knox Hartman opened the scoring for the visiting Eagles with a touchdown run in the first frame.

Stetson Bordell got in on the action with a scamper in the second and third quarters to extend the McVeytown lead to three scores with a quarter left to play.

The Little Indians got on the scoreboard with a 40-yard touchdown run from Ryker Stahl in the fourth quarter, but the comeback effort came up just short as McVeytown left Juniata with a 3-1 victory.

McVeytown was led defensively by the efforts of Dallas Cramer, Clayton Fisher, Jaxon Smith and Layton Yoder as each player posted several key tackles. Weston Dobson recovered a fumble to add to the defensive showing for the visiting Eagles.

Pee Wees

Kish 39 – Terrace 0

JUNIATA TERRACE, Pa. – For the second week in a row, the Kish Indians went on the road and shutout the hosts as Kish routed the Terrace Tigers by a 39-0 score.

Wyatt Hassinger struck pay dirt twice and Duke Peachey added a touchdown run in the first quarter as Kish jumped out to a 19-0 lead after the opening stanza.

Easton Trutt connected with Jase Atherton on a long pass in the second quarter to extend the Kish advantage. Jackson Druckenmiller scored a rushing touchdown to add to the Indians’ lead.

Kish’s defense pinned Terrace deep in its own territory to a force a punt in the second quarter. Bennett Rager wasted little time in adding his name to the ledger as he returned the punt for a touchdown to round out the scoring on the day and help hand Kish a 39-0 victory.

McVeytown 31 – Juniata 0

PORT ROYAL, Pa. – Calvin Napikoski scored three times including a special teams score in the second quarter as the visiting McVeytown Eagles rolled past the Juniata Little Indians by a 31-0 tally.

Napikoski’s busy day started in the first quarter with a 40-yard sprint to the end zone to put the Eagles up by 6-0 tally. Matthew Hartsock galloped into the endzone on the PAT to build the lead to 7-0 with 8:50 to play in the first.

Late in the first quarter, Napikoski converted from long distance again – this time from 50 yards out – to push McVeytown’s lead to 13-0.

After McVeytown’s defense held Juniata off the board, the Little Indians botted the ball to Napikoski on a punt and the Eagles’ field general did the rest by returning the punt 65 yards to the endzone to extend the lead to 19-0.

Lincoln Knable got in on the action in the waning moments of the first half after taking over behind center for Napikoski. Knable struck paydirt on a run to extend the McVeytown lead to 25-0 at the intermission.

Knable added a third quarter score on a two-yard rush to round out the scoring and hand the visiting Eagles a 31-0 victory. Hartsock led the defensive efforts with three tackles, while Knable and Cole Laughlin added two stops each in the win.

Burnham 28– Derry Decatur 0

Midgets

Burnham 28 – Derry Decatur 14

BURNHAM, Pa. – Burnham jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as the host Bulldogs capped off the day with a 28-14 victory over the visiting Derry-Decatur Cyclones.

The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard in the first quarter and held on to a 7-0 lead after the opening frame.

Burnham added two scores in the second quarter, but the Cyclones added a score of their own off of the efforts of Drake Finerock as the Bulldogs took a 22-6 lead into the intermission.

Following a scoreless third quarter, both teams added touchdowns in the final quarter with Finerock hitting paydirt for the second time on the day but it wasn’t enough as Burnham closed out a 28-14 victory.

Terrace 41 – Kish 18

JUNIATA TERRACE, Pa. – In a rematch of last season’s championship game, Terrace put the league on notice with a convincing 41-18 victory over Kish.

Terrace got the scoring started in the opening frame with a pair of touchdown passes from Michael Williams to Ryker Harrington. The Tigers rounded out the first half with a pair of scores from Pedro Rodriguez as the hosts owned a 28-12 advantage at halftime.

In the third quarter, Liam Guerrero and Jackson Yeater both struck pay dirt to round out the scoring for the Tigers sending the defending champions off to a 23-point victory in their home and season opener.

It’s a short turnaround for the Midget division with mid-week games slated for Wednesday evening. Derry-Decatur travels to McVeytown, while Burnham hosts Kish. Both games are slated for a 5:30 p.m. kickoff.

LEWISTOWN, Pa. – Week one of the 2024 Central Keystone Youth Football & Cheer League (CKYFCL) saw a full slate of games contested across all three divisions of play.

Mighty Mights:

Juniata 5 – Terrace 2

PORT ROYAL, Pa. – Four different players found paydirt on Sunday afternoon as the Juniata Little Indians got the season off on the right note with a 5-2 victory over the Terrace Tigers.

Wyatt Seiber scored twice to the lead the way for the Little Indians while Axton Bomberger, Colby Fortney and Ryker Stahl added touchdowns for Juniata in the win.

Juniata led 3-1 at the intermission and added two second half scores to claim the season opener by a 5-2 tally.

Kish 8 – Derry-Decatur 1

ALFARATA, Pa. – Luke Russler scored twice to lead seven different scorers for the Kish Indians in an 8-1 rout of the host Derry-Decatur Cyclones.

The Indians went to the air for their first score of the afternoon when Bennett Harmon connected with Quay Vogt for the game’s opening touchdown.

Eli Jackson, Harmon and Layton Glick each struck paydirt in the opening half as Kish took a commanding 4-0 lead into the locker room.

Derry-Decatur added a third-quarter score to get on the board, but it was Russler matching the Cyclones tally with one of his own before Hugh Harmon got in on the action and handed Kish a 6-1 lead with one stanza to play.

Jack Wagner pushed the Kish lead to 7-1 before Russler rounded out the scoring with his second touchdown of the day as the Indians rolled to an 8-1 road victory in the season opener.

McVeytown 6 – Burnham 5

BURNHAM, Pa. – McVeytown held off a late-game surge from the host Burnham Bulldogs to open the season in style with a 6-5 victory in Mighty Mights action.

Knox Hartman, Stetson Bordell and Bryce Seedes each found the end zone in the 6-5 win.

Pee Wees

Juniata 27 – Terrace 0

PORT ROYAL, Pa. – Four different players struck paydirt and the defense stood strong throughout as the Juniata Little Indians rolled to a 27-0 victory on Sunday afternoon against the visiting Terrace Tigers.

Abel Yoder opened the scoring with a ground score in the first quarter for the host Little Indians and it was a defensive battle through the remainder of the first half as Juniata took a 7-0 lead to the locker room.

Juniata extended its lead out of the intermission when Michael Lorenz scampered into the endzone to extend the lead before Cooper Snyder added a third quarter rushing score to build the Little Indians lead to 21-0.

Banks Hackenberger rounded out the scoring for Juniata’s offensive outpouring in the third with another rushing touchdown to push the lead to 27-0 as the game headed to the fourth quarter on a steamy afternoon in Juniata County. The score was extra special for Hackenberger who was also celebrating his 10th birthday.

Lorenz, Yoder and Mason Delancy each added takeaways for Juniata’s shutdown defense in the victory.

McVeytown 33 – Burnham 7

BURNHAM, Pa. – Lincoln Knable took the opening kickoff to the house and the visitors never looked back as the McVeytown Eagles rolled to a 33-7 season-opening victory on Sunday afternoon at Burnham.

Calvin Napikoski followed Knable’s tally with back-to-back rushing touchdowns for the Eagles and Matt Hartsock added the first of his two rushing touchdowns on the day as McVeytown owned a 27-0 halftime lead.

Hartsock added a fourth-quarter score to round out the day. Jayse Snyder added a fourth-quarter, 55-yard run to the three-headed McVeytown rushing attack.

Alex Weaver added an extra point for the Eagles and led the defense with a pair of sacks.

Kish 33 – Derry-Decatur 0

ALFARATA, Pa. – Five different players found the end zone on Sunday as the visiting Kish Indians cruised to a 33-0 road victory on Sunday at Derry-Decatur.

Wyatt Hassinger, Jase Atherton, Duke Peachey, Quentin Rowe and Knox Wagner each struck pay dirt on the day while the defense ratcheted up the intensity and pitched a shutout of the host Cyclones.

Kish scored twice in each of the two opening frames, and added a third-quarter score to round out its offensive efforts.

Midgets

Kish 13 – Derry-Decatur 8

ALFARATA, Pa. – Clayton Fultz scored late in the fourth quarter to put the visiting Kish Indians ahead by five points on Sunday at Derry-Decatur. Derry-Decatur attempted to respond, but Kish forced a fumble and Asher Dupert made the recovery to seal a 13-8 Kish victory.

Bronn Zook got the scoring started for the Indians as the visitors took an early 6-0 lead.

Derry-Decatur responded with a score of its own and converted the two-point attempt to take an 8-6 advantage.  Jett Nail picked off a pass on a late-half drive as Derry-Decatur looked to extend its lead, but it was the host Cyclones owning an 8-6 advantage at the half.

Fultz scampered into the endzone from 16 yards out and the Indians added the PAT to take a 13-8 lead late in the contest which is how the game would end.

McVeytown 34 – Burnham 6

BURNHAM, Pa. – Bentley Felmlee scored three times on the ground and added a pick six on defense as the visiting McVeytown Eagles cruised past the Burnham Bulldogs by a 34-6 tally on Sunday afternoon.

Brayden Hess added a touchdown for the Eagles in the victory.

LEWISTOWN, Pa. – Two weeks of preseason preparations are in the books and the Central Keystone Youth Football & Cheer League (CKYFL) has announced its slate of games for the 2024 season.

The fall recreational league welcomes players and cheerleaders of all skill levels with Mighty Might, Pee Wee and Midget divisions providing the excitement of local youth football. Participants will have the opportunity to develop their athletic abilities, build lifelong friendships, and experience the thrill of participation in competitive sports.

As the calendar turned to August, the CKYFL opened the season in earnest with the start of preseason heat acclimation for all levels of competition. The slate of regular season games starts on Sunday, August 25 and concludes on October 27.

After the conclusion of the regular season, the league will once again host post-season activities for all divisions as a part of the 2024 Bowl Weekend. Dates, locations and times are still to be announced for the end-of-season crowning of league champions.

Fans and family are encouraged to visit the team pages for individual team schedules while utilizing the standings menu to follow the league throughout the season. For the first time, fans and parents can also access a downloadable schedule which can be added to mobile devices. Downloadable schedules are available on each team’s individual schedule page.

FULL MIGRATORY RELEASE POLICY

LEWISTOWN, Pa. – With the league season opening in a few short weeks, the Central Keystone Youth Football & Cheer League (CKYFL) has announced a new policy regarding participants seeking a transfer from their Home Charter Organization.

The Home Charter Organization for an athlete is the organization under which participants reside within their official CKYFL league boundaries. While the expectation is that participants will stay within their Home Charter Organization as defined by the boundaries, extenuating circumstance at times will arise.

Should parents/guardians wish to seek a Migratory Transfer Release, they will need the direct approval of their Home Charter Organization. This approval can only come from the organization’s President.

POINT OF EMPHASIS: At no time after petitioning the Home Charter Organization should the parents/guardians directly communicate with the league board or any league personnel regarding the matter. Violation of this part of the policy will be considered a league violation and the parents/guardians and the athlete will be subject to further punishment from the league with punishments being at the discretion of the league.

In addition, if it discovered that parents/guardians are fabricating the home address of a league participant in order to avert the league boundaries and the migratory release policy, the parents/guardians and child will be subject to suspension from all league activities for a full calendar year. 

In-person sign-ups are still ongoing as organizations look to put the finishing touches on rosters in preparation for the 2024 season.

LEWISTOWN, Pa. – With a new season fast approaching, the 2024 season to kick-off in earnest for the Central Keystone Youth Football and Cheer League (CKYFL) at Kid Connection in Downtown Lewistown on Saturday, May 11. 

Parents seeking to learn more about how their child can participate in football and cheer during the 2024 season can find out more by stopping by the CKYFL booth which will be setup on the southern side of historic Monument Square. 

League officers and board members along with representatives from the league’s organizations will be on-hand and there will be plenty of fun for kids with an obstacle course on site. 

Aside from the obstacle course, parents can learn more about signing up their child to participate.
