LEWISTOWN, Pa. – Summer is quickly winding to a close and the days are getting shorter which can only mean one thing – the 2025 Central Keystone Youth Football & Cheer League (CKYFCL) season is just around the corner. The 2025 season is slated to officially begin on Monday, July 28 when preseason practice begins for each of the league’s six teams. 

With practices beginning on Monday evening, parents are reminded that if they have not signed their children up to participate yet that sign-ups will only be accepted through Sunday, July 27 at 11:59 p.m. There will be no sign-ups accepted on Monday evening. 

Along with the start of preseason practices, the league is pleased to announce its 2025 Preseason Pool Party for league participants. This season’s pool party will coincide with the final preseason league meeting on Thursday, August 14 at Lewistown’s Rec Park Pool. The event will take place from 6-9 p.m. with only children signed up to participate in the 2025 season being invited to participate. 

League officials would also like to remind fans and parents that the league’s 2025 schedule will be released in the coming weeks after preseason practices are underway and weigh-ins are complete.

LEWISTOWN, Pa. – A busy offseason will come to its conclusion on Saturday, May 10 as the 2025 season officially kicks off for the Central Keystone Youth Football and Cheer League (CKYFCL) at Lewistown’s annual Kid Connection.

With the season kicking off in earnest, the CKYFCL is also pleased to announce a series of changes for the 2025 season to prepare families in advance of the opening of sign-ups.

Dating back more than a decade to the origination of the former-CKFL, a structure of age-based divisions of competition was the standard for the youth in Mifflin and Juniata Counties. That structure has been adjusted for the 2025 season and beyond as the league’s membership has voted to move to grade-based divisions.

Arguably the largest change is with the Mighty Might division as the league’s Pre-K and Kindergarten athletes will participate in flag football for the first time. Flag football has seen significant growth nationally and also across all of Central Pennsylvania and will replace the former tackle structure for the Mighty Might division.

The other significant change comes at the top division of competition as the Midget level athletes will conclude competition in the CKYFCL at the end of sixth grade.

Mighty Mights: Pre-K to Kindergarten
Pee Wees: Grades 1-3
Midgets: Grades 4-6

Along with the new division structure, the league will also be in attendance at Kid Connection which will not be held on Historic Monument Square for the first time as the annual event moves venues to Lewistown’s Rec Park.

LEWISTOWN, Pa. – On the heels of a tremendous first day of action, two more league champions were crowned on the final day of action for the 2024 Central Keystone Youth Football & Cheer League (CKYFCL) season.

Kish reigned supreme in a back-and-forth affair with McVeytown to complete its second straight unbeaten season, while also winning the Mighty Might Championship behind a 9-8 victory.

In the final contest of the weekend, McVeytown capped off the season in style with a convincing 31-8 victory over the Burnham Bulldogs to lift the Midget Championship.

Following an early feeling out period, McVeytown struck first midway through the first quarter when Bentley Felmlee bolted in from the 25-yard line to put the Eagles out in front by a 6-0 tally.

McVeytown’s defense held the Bulldogs in check before striking again in the second quarter to add to its lead. Blake Specht punched it across the goal line to build a 12-0 McVeytown lead.

Felmlee added another long touchdown run – this time a 42 yard jaunt – to extend the Eagles advantage to 18-0 with less than five minutes to play in the first half.

Burnham use a methodical drive to open the second half and chip into the McVeytown lead. Malachi Galbraith pounced into the endzone and the Bulldogs converted the two-point attempt to trim the Eagles lead to 18-8 midway through the third quarter.

McVeytown responded with a grinding drive of its own. The Eagles converted multiple key third downs along the way before Felmlee scampered in from the 17 to push McVeytown ahead by a 25-8 score in the waning moments of the third quarter.

Felmlee was stuffed up the middle and bounced the ball outside and went 42 yards to the house to build a 31-8 McVeytown lead midway through the final quarter of play. The run put Felmlee over 100 yards on the evening.

McVeytown’s defense was up to the task all evening and was led by a disruptive defensive line that kept Burnham on its heels.

Burnham moved down field on the game’s final drive, but McVeytown’s defense held strong as it had all evening before the Eagles finished off a 31-8 rout of the Bulldogs to lift the Midget division championship.

Kish picked up win number 25 in a row by holding off a feisty McVeytown squad by a 9-8 tally in the Mighty Might championship game.

The Indians wasted little time in getting on the scoreboard as they needed just two plays to score. Bennett Harmon bounced off the left side and sprinted to the endzone for an early 1-0 Kish lead.

McVeytown responded on its ensuing drive when Knox Hartman pounced into the endzone to knot the game up at a 1-1 tally.

Quay Vogt answered to put the Indians back ahead when he jaunted off the right side and sprinted down the sidelines to score and put Kish out in front, 2-1.

The back-and-forth affair continued when Stetson Bordell ran it across the goal line to tie the game up at two points each, but Harmon answered on the next play to put Kish back in front by a 3-2 score midway through the first quarter.

Another Bordell touchdown run tied the game up for the third time late in the first frame, but Kish had the final say in the quarter when Harmon covered nearly 40 yards on a broken play to allow the Indians to take a 4-3 lead after the opening stanza.

Early in the second quarter, McVeytown knotted the game up yet again when Bordell powered the ball into the end with 13:25 to play in the first half. Harmon responded yet again though for the Indians with his second-straight 35-plus-yard run to put Kish back out in front by a 5-4 score.

Kish got the first defensive stop of the game when Oakley Maurer pounced on a fumble to give the Indians a chance to open up their lead. The Indians capitalized when Jack Wagner scampered to the endzone to build a two-score lead at a 6-4 margin.

Hartman responded with a short McVeytown touchdown run to bring the score to a 6-5 Kish lead, but Harmon had an answer yet again as he crossed the century mark on the day to put the Indians back ahead by a 7-5 score in the waning moments of the first half.

McVeytown added a score with two ticks to play in the half, but it was Kish owning a 7-6 halftime lead in an offensive slugfest.

After the offensive outpouring in the first half, the two defenses settled in over the final half of action. Both teams split scores in the second half with Kish prevailing by a 9-8 tally.

Third-seeded Terrace opened the day with a 35-0 victory over fourth-seeded Kish in Midgets action. The win for Terrace marked its second straight postseason win over the Indians after last year’s triumph in the Midget Championship game.

Terrace got on the board midway through the first quarter when Michael Williams connected with Pedro Rodriguez down the left side of the field and Rodriguez waltzed into the end zone to hand the Tigers a 7-0 lead.

Kish looked to answer on the ensuing drive, but the Indians drive stalled out prior to Williams intercepting a Brody Hower pass to set the Tigers up with good field position across midfield.

Both defenses notched interceptions on the ensuing drives of the first quarter, before Williams again found Rodriguez on a pitch-and-catch to put the Tigers ahead by a 14-0 tally after a quarter of play.

Williams sprinted off the left side for a 54-yard gain early in the second quarter to setup Terrace’s third score of the day. Two plays later, Williams found Rodriguez for their third touchdown connection to build a 21-0 Terrace lead.

Terrace’s defense continued to stymie the Kish offense over the remainder of the first half and struck late in the second quarter. Williams connected with Rodriguez for the fourth time and the Tigers converted the two-point attempt to head to the half with a 29-0 advantage.

Out of the intermission, the Tigers struck one more time in the contest when Williams avoided disaster by picking up his own fumble and darting to the endzone to put the finishing touches on a 35-0 Terrace victory.

Terrace was led defensively by a trio of players with interceptions as Rodriguez, Williams and Jaxon Yeater each picked off Kish passes in the win.

LEWISTOWN, Pa. – One champion has been crowned following a busy opening day of the Central Keystone Youth Football & Cheer League’s (CKYFCL) 2024 Bowl Weekend.

In a rematch of last season’s championship game, McVeytown avenged five consecutive losses to the defending champion Kish Indians with a hard-fought 13-6 victory to earn the 2024 Pee Wee Division Championship.

The loss for Kish was its first in more than two years of action.

McVeytown opened the scoring when Calvin Napikoski handed the ball to Alex Weaver and Weaver bolted into the endzone from a four-yard line for a 6-0 Eagles lead with 3: 30 to play in the opening quarter.

Kish responded midway through the second quarter to knot the game up at a 6-6 deadlock. Jase Atherton fielded a McVeytown punt and took it the distance to draw the game to a 6-6 tie at the half.

Out of the intermission, the Eagles used a big play on offense to regain the lead for good. Napikoski scampered 75 yards to the house to break the deadlock and put the Eagles back in front by a 13-6 score.

A defensive battle ensued for the remainder of the contest before McVeytown eventually prevailed by a 13-6 score to lift the 2024 Pee Wee division title.

The day opened with a pair of Mighty Mights contests as Terrace and Burnham wrapped up their 2024 seasons in style with victories.

Terrace used a pair of touchdowns in each of the opening three quarters of action to run away with a 6-2 victory over Derry-Decatur.

Four different players scored for Terrace in the win with. Jadiel Guevara and Jaxon Dobbs led the Tigers attack with two touchdown each, while JJ Henry and Cohan Fultz added scores in the victory.

Camden Hesketh and Theo Ammerman scored for Derry-Decatur in the loss.

At the end of regulation, the two teams came together to honor an injured Terrace player. Jude Shearer was injured with two games left of the season and the teams capped off the season in a special way for the youngster by scoring a touchdown in his honor.

In the second half of the day’s opening doubleheader, Burnham posted a hard-fought 6-4 win over Juniata to wrap up the season on a high note. Ryker Stahl scored three times and James Gehman scored once for the Little Indians in the loss.

Following the morning twinbill, the Pee Wee division took to the field for the remainder of the day.

In the 5 vs 6 matchup, Derry-Decatur avenged a recent loss to Terrace on its way to posting a 20-6 victory in the season finale for both teams.

After falling behind early and trailing late in the fourth quarter, third-seeded Burnham used a methodical offense and a stiff defense to take the rubber match with fourth-seeded Juniata by a 14-12 tally. Connor Rose found the endzone in the waning moments of the contest to propel Burnham to its sixth victory of the season.

Juniata broke a 55-yard run to start the scoring on its way to an early 6-0 lead.

Burnham’s responded and added the extra point to take a slim 7-6 advantage. Juniata had the final say in the first half with a score as the Little Indians owned a 12-7 halftime lead.

Out of the intermission, both teams locked up in a defense slugfest for the majority of the second half as Juniata clung to a five-point lead late into the fourth quarter.

Archer Curry stripped the ball late and Rose fell on the ball to put the Bulldogs back on the march. Rose barreled into the endzone in the waning minutes of the contest and the Burnham defense held off a late Juniata drive to earn a hard-fought 14-12 victory.

Action continues tomorrow as champions are crowned in the Mighty Might and Midget divisions. Sunday’s slate begins at 11 a.m. with a 3 vs. 4 showdown in the Midget division between Terrace and Kish.

BOWL CENTRAL

LEWISTOWN, Pa. – With the postseason officially kicking off on Thursday evening with Kish defeating Derry-Decatur in Midget division action, the Central Keystone Youth Football & Cheer League has launched a Bowl Central Fan Page to get fans prepared for the weekend’s events at Mitchell Field.

Kish defeated Derry-Decatur by a 12-6 tally on Thursday evening to book a Sunday morning matchup with the Terrace Tigers in a rematch of last season’s thrilling championship game.

Each game of the Bowl Weekend will be live streamed via the league’s YouTube channel. All games are available at the YouTube link in the league mobile app for Apple devices and can be viewed directly on all devices via the above Bowl Central link. Fans at home may also utilize the YouTube app on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV and other streaming devices to watch the games from the comfort of their living room.

Fans will also have schedules broken down by division along with results as they come in at the Bowl Central page.

Finally, fans are also reminded of the following guidelines for Mitchell Field:

• Mitchell Field is a non-smoking facility.
• Firearms and other weapons are not permitted on the grounds of Mitchell Field.
• Parents, fans and other non-game personnel are not allowed on the field at Mitchell Field until given verbal approval by league staff over the public address system.
• Any parent, coach or fan that is deemed to be unruly will be asked to leave the premises.
• Parents are reminded of the code of conduct they signed at the beginning of the season. The Parent’s Code of Conduct remains in effect and will be enforced.

Action kicks off on Saturday morning with Mighty Might action at 11 a.m. and wraps up on Sunday evening with the Midget Championship game between top-seeded McVeytown and Burnham.

LEWISTOWN, Pa. – After nine weeks of action and 76 games, the Central Keystone Youth Football & Cheer League (CKYFCL) regular season wrapped up on Sunday afternoon with games being contested in the Mighty Might and Pee Wee divisions.

Mighty Mights

JUNIATA 6 – DERRY-DECATUR 1

PORT ROYAL, Pa. – Four different players scored their first touchdowns of the season on Sunday afternoon as the Juniata Little Indians surged past the Derry-Decatur Cyclones by a 6-1 tally.

Colby Fortney opened the scoring for the Little Indians in the first quarter and Kutler Goshorn added the final score of the frame as Juniata ran out to a 2-0 lead after the first quarter of action. For Fortney and Goshorn, it marked their first touchdowns of the season.

Derry-Decatur got on the board in the second quarter, but Juniata kept the pedal to the floor with two more touchdowns to take a 4-1 lead to the intermission. Bentley Rowles notched his first touchdown of the season and Stephen Batarick added another touchdown to hand Juniata a sizeable halftime lead.

The firsts continued out of the halftime break as Caleb Miller tallied his first score of the season to propel Juniata to a 5-1 lead with a quarter of play remaining.

Batarick notched his second touchdown of the day to round out the scoring and help hand Juniata a 6-1 victory.

Juniata’s defense was very stingy all-day and was led by the efforts of Asher Dituri and Easton Hostler.

KISH 6 – BURNHAM 4

BURNHAM, Pa. – Visiting Kish fell behind early, but stormed back in the middle quarters to wrap up its second undefeated regular season in a row with a 6-4 victory over an upset-minded Burnham Bulldogs squad.

Burnham scored on the game’s opening possession when Robert Davis struck paydirt on a 35-yard jaunt to put the host Bulldogs out in front by a 1-0 tally.

Kish responded quickly when Bennett Harmon barreled into the endzone with 12:05 to play in the opening frame to knot the game up at a score each.

Davis struck again, this time on a 25-yard run to put the Bulldogs back in front by a 2-1gap midway through a busy first quarter of action.

Harmon knotted the game back up on the ensuing drive when he punched it in from the five to even the score at two apiece.

Burnham had the final say in the first quarter when Kyson Miller found the endzone on a nine-yard burst to put the Bulldogs out in front by a 3-2 score after the first quarter of action.

Kish responded in a big way in the second quarter to gain the lead for good. Quay Vogt opened the scoring in the second stanza with a five-yard touchdown run to tie the game up for the third time at a 3-3 margin.

Jack Wagner bolted into the endzone on a 13-yard run with 6:35 to go in the opening half to put the visiting Indians out in front by a 4-3 score at the break in a back-and-forth affair.

Out of the halftime break, Kish built a three-score lead on the legs of Harmon and Vogt. Harmon sprinted in from the 35 on the first play of the second half to extend the Kish lead to 5-3.

A stingy Kish defense held Burnham off the scoreboard while Vogt notched his second score of the day on a two-yard burst to build a 6-3 Indians lead with 15 minutes to play.

Carter Cherry punched it in from the two with under two minutes to play, but it wasn’t enough as Kish posted a 6-4 road victory to earn the season sweep over Burnham.

MCVEYTOWN 8 – TERRACE 5

JUNIATA TERRACE, Pa. – Jadiel Guevara scored five times for the host Terrace Tigers, but a balanced attack powered the visiting McVeytown Eagles to a hard-fought 8-5 victory on Sunday afternoon.

Knox Hartman put the Eagles on the scoreboard midway through the first quarter with a three-yard touchdown run to build a 1-0 lead.

Guevara responded early in the second quarter to knot the game up at a score each.

Bryce Seedes broke the deadlock with a two-yard touchdown run as the Eagles regained the lead for good with 5:55 to play in the first half.

McVeytown added a score in the waning moments of the first half when Stetson Bordell scored to build a 3-1 halftime lead for the visiting Eagles.

Hartman got back in on the scoring with 12 minutes to go in the third quarter when he bolted 25 yards to paydirt to extend the McVeytown lead to 4-1.

Guevara ended the McVeytown run with his second score of the day to trim the deficit to 4-2.

Hartman notched another touchdown run and Guevara responded yet again before Maddyx Sunderland bolted into the endzone with 30 ticks to play in the third quarter to build a 6-3 McVeytown lead with a quarter of play remaining.

Guevara scored twice in the final quarter for Terrace to round out a busy afternoon, but Layton Yoder and Hartman each answered with scores of their own to propel McVeytown to an 8-5 road victory.

PEE WEES

Juniata 33 – Derry-Decatur 0

PORT ROYAL, Pa. – Mason DeLancey connected twice with Kase Goshorn and the defense was impressive throughout as the Juniata Little Indians rolled to a 33-0 victory over Derry-Decatur in the regular season finale for both teams.

DeLancey opened the scoring midway through the first quarter when he connected with Goshorn on a 21-yard pitch-and-catch to build a 7-0 Juniata lead.

Waylon Imes pounded the ball in from the eight-yard line with 2:01 to go in the first quarter to extend the Juniata lead to 14-0.

Midway through the second quarter the DeLancey to Goshorn connection struck again. DeLancey found Goshorn on a 15-yard pattern to send Juniata to a 21-0 halftime lead.

Following a Cooper Snyder interception to setup Juniata’s offense, Banks Hackenberger got on the scoreboard on a four-yard burst with 4:11 to go in the third frame to push the Little Indians advantage to 27-0.

Juniata wrapped up the afternoon’s scoring when Snyder bolted into the endzone on a two-yard score to propel the Little Indians to a 33-0 advantage.

Marshall Deihl put the finishing touches on a superb defensive effort with an interception with two minutes to play and Juniata drained out the clock to post a 33-0 victory over the visiting Cyclones.

KISH 34 – BURNHAM 12

BURNHAM, Pa. – Kish used a special teams score to get on the board and never looked back as the visiting Indians rolled to a 34-12 victory over the host Burnham Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon.

After an early exchange, Wyatt Hassinger fielded a Burnham punt and returned it the distance to put Kish out in front by a 7-0 tally.

Julian Altiery extended the Kish lead on a short run up the middle to push the Indians advantage to 13-0 after a quarter of play.

Kish added to its lead in the second stanza when Hassinger took the ball around the right side and jaunted to the endzone to extend the lead to 20-0 at the intermission.

Burnham awoke in the second half and forced a Kish three-and-out before trimming the deficit to 20-6. Ricky Jenkins broke multiple tackles on a 70-yard touchdown run to cut into the Kish lead midway through the third quarter of play.

Early in the fourth quarter, a touchdown pass brought Burnham to within a score, but Kish used a pair of unanswered scores to pull away late.

Altiery found the end zone for the second time in the day to build a 26-12 lead.  Jase Atherton hit Jasper Snook on the two-point attempt to push the Kish lead to 28-12.

Kish rounded out the scoring when Easton Trutt bolted into the endzone on a quarterback keeper around the right side to finalize the scoring at a 34-12 tally.

MCVEYTOWN 49 – TERRACE 12

JUNIATA TERRACE, Pa. – Alex Weaver scored twice to lead six different scorers as the McVeytown Eagles rolled to a 49-12 road victory over the Terrace Tigers on Sunday afternoon.

Midway through the first quarter of play, Lincoln Knable put the Eagles on the board witih a 35-yard touchdown run. Calvin Napikoski found Mathew Hartsock on the two-point conversion to build an 8-0 McVeytown lead.

McVeytown’s defense was again up to the task throughout the remainder of the quarter, handing the offense good field position to setup three more first-quarter McVeytown scores.

Hartsock, Napikoski and Weaver each scored rushing touchdowns in the final 4:22 of the first quarter as the Eagles ran out to a 29-0 lead after a quarter of action.

Dean Armstrong barreled into the endzone on a two-yard run to extend the McVeytown lead to 36-0 at the intermission.

Out of the halftime break, Liam Bender took a handoff at the five and rolled into the endzone for a score as the Eagles build a 42-0 lead.

Reece Hagerty responded with 59 ticks to play in the third quarter when he scampered 50 yards to the endzone to put Terrace on the scoreboard and trim the McVeytown lead to 42-6.

Knable bookended his day with a 45-yard touchdown run with 9:20 remaining to push the McVeytown lead to 49-6.

Hagerty had the final say for Terrace on a 40-yard touchdown run with seven minutes to play, but it wasn’t enough as the Eagles rolled to their eighth victory of the season by a 49-12 tally.

LEWISTOWN, Pa. – The regular season is in the books and the Central Keystone Youth Football & Cheer League (CKYFCL) has announced official pairings for the 2024 Bowl Weekend to be held at Historic Mitchell Field.

The league is planning to live stream all contests for Bowl Weekend on the league’s YouTube channel. More details are forthcoming regarding live streaming and will be released prior to Bowl Weekend.

Games will be played on Saturday, November 2 and Sunday, November 3 and mark the final competitions on the schedule for Mitchell Field which hosted a thrilling finale for the Mifflin County Huskies in a victory over Red Land.

Bowl weekend opens up on Saturday, November 2 with a pair of Mighty Mights matchups at 11 a.m. The Mighty Mights games will be split-field contests between third-seeded Burnham and fourth-seeded Juniata and fifth-seeded Terrace and sixth-seeded Derry-Decatur.

During the regular season, Burnham swept the series with Juniata behind a pair of one-score victories. Terrace also swept the season series with Derry-Decatur with a pair of dominating victories over the Cyclones.

Following Mighty Mights action, the Pee Wees will take the field for the remainder of the day on Saturday with a 5-6 matchup between Derry-Decatur and Terrace kicking off the division’s action at 1 p.m. Derry-Decatur and Terrace split the season series and Derry-Decatur owned the tiebreak via point spread (+6) in the two matchups.

Burnham and Juniata will meet up in the postseason for the second straight season when they do battle at 3 p.m. The two teams split the season series with each team going on the road to claim victories with Burnham owning the tiebreak via point spread (+3) in the two matchups.

Saturday night’s finale will see Kish do battle with McVeytown for the Pee Wee division championship at 5 p.m. Kish swept the season series with McVeytown behind a pair of shutout wins. Kish rides a 21-game winning streak into the contest and will look to defend its 2023 Pee Wee Championship against the same McVeytown squad it defeated a year ago by a 25-6 tally.

Sunday’s slate of games opens with a Midgets matchup at 11 a.m. when Terrace does battle with the winner of the play-in game slated for Thursday between Kish and Derry-Decatur. Terrace swept the season series over both Kish and Derry-Decatur and is coming off a league championship a season ago.

A special contest will take place at 1 p.m. as the Burnham Bulldogs Special Needs team takes the field. The Special Needs team rides a multi-year winning streak into the contest with the Lake Dealerships of Lewistown.

The return of the Mighty Mights Championship game will see the Kish Indians take on the McVeytown Eagles at 3 p.m. Kish swept the season series over McVeytown and is riding a two-plus year winning streak into the contest. McVeytown is the last team to defeat Kish, with a victory on September 25, 2022.

Bowl Weekend wraps up with the Midget Championship game between McVeytown and Burnham at 5 p.m. McVeytown swept the season series with Burnham as the Bulldogs look to return to the top of the league for the first time since 2022.

Fans are reminded that the game start times are approximate and could be moved up to accommodate an earlier start time should games move quickly and ahead of schedule. Additionally, all rules and regulations of the Mifflin County School District (MCSD) will be in place for the duration of the weekend’s events.

⁃ Firearms and other weapons are not permitted on the grounds of Mitchell Field.
⁃ Parents, fans and other non-game personnel are not allowed on the field at Mitchell Field until given verbal approval by league staff over the public address system.
⁃ Mitchell Field is a non-smoking facility.
⁃ Any parent, coach or fan that is deemed to be unruly will be asked to leave the premises.
⁃ Parents are reminded of the code of conduct they signed at the beginning of the season. The Parent’s Code of Conduct remains in effect and will be enforced.

LEWISTOWN, Pa. – A busy weekend around the Central Keystone Youth Football & Cheer League (CKYFCL) was wrapped up on Sunday as the final regular season champion was crowned in the Midget division with McVeytown lifting the title.

Mighty Mights

Burnham 4 – Terrace 2

BURNHAM, Pa . – Kyson Miller tallied the game’s two opening scores to lead three different scorers for the host Bulldogs as Burnham held off a late Terrace rally to earn a 4-2 victory over the visiting Tigers on Sunday.

Miller got the scoring started in the first quarter on a seven-yard jaunt to the endzone to build a 1-0 Burnham lead.

Early in the second quarter, Miller struck paydirt again to build a 2-0 Burnham lead. Miller barrelled in from the five-yard line for his second score of the day.

Burnham wasn’t finished in a busy first half. With 18 ticks to play in the half, Robert Davis pounded the ball across the goalline to extend the Burnham lead to 3-0 at the half.

Following a slow start to the third quarter, Burnham added to its lead with a minute to go in the frame when Brody Lepley ran it in from the 15 to push the Bulldogs out to a 4-0 lead with a quarter of action remaining.

Terrace wouldn’t go down without a fight. Jadiel Guevara scored on a five-yard run with under 10 minutes to play to chip into the Burnham lead.

Guevara added another score with 4:14 to go on a 15-yard touchdown run but it wasn’t enough as Burnham held on for a 4-2 victory.

McVeytown 8 – Derry-Decatur 2

ALFARATA, Pa. – Eight different players found the endzone on Sunday afternoon for McVeytown as the visiting Eagles turned in a resounding 8-2 road victory over the Derry-Decatur Cyclones.

Knox Hartman got the scoring started in the first quarter with a 35-yard touchdown run to put McVeytown out in front early. Stetson Bordell and Layton Yoder matched Hartman with 35-yard scores of their own as McVeytown rolled out to a 3-0 lead after a quarter of play.

The two teams traded scores in the second quarter, but it was McVeytown owning a 4-1 halftime advantage. Maddyx Sunderland scored on a 20-yard run for the Eagles and Oliver Rauch struck paydirt to put the Cyclones on the scoreboard.

Out of the halftime break, McVeytown added to its lead with a pair of third-quarter scores. Cade Cherry and Luke Specht scored on runs of four and two yards, respectively, to push the Eagles out to a 6-1 lead with a quarter left to play.

A busy afternoon for the McVeytown offense was wrapped up with a pair of scores in the fourth quarter. Lucas Moist and Bryce Seedes found the endzone on mirroring 35-yard touchdown scampers, while Camden Hesketh scored for Derry-Decatur in the frame but it wasn’t enough as McVeytown rolled to an 8-2 victory over the host Cyclones.

McVeytown was led defensively by a five-tackle afternoon from Hartman. Seedes, Yoder and Jaxon Smith each chipped in four stops in the victory.

Kish 5 – Juniata 3

REEDSVILLE, Pa. – Kish used four first-half scores to run out to a 4-1 halftime lead and never looked back and the host Indians defeated the visiting Juniata Little Indians by a 5-3 tally on Sunday afternoon.

Bennett Harmon opened the scoring on the game’s opening drive when he sprinted to the endzone from the 20-yard line for a 1-0 Kish lead.

Quay Vogt wrapped up the first-quarter scoring with 6:22 to play in the frame with a seven-yard touchdown run to extend the Kish lead to 2-0 after the first quarter of action.

Harmon notched his second score of the day early in the second stanza with a 16-yard touchdown jaunt to build a 3-0 Indians lead before Layton Glick ran it in from the 35 yards out to push Kish ahead by a 4-0 tally.

Juniata got on the scoreboard in the waning moments of the second quarter when Ryker Stahl punched it into the endzone, but it was Kish owning a 4-1 halftime lead.

Out of the intermission, Juniata wasted little time in cutting the lead in half. Stahl barrelled into the endzone on the opening play from scrimmage in the second half to trim the gap to 4-2.

Kish quelled the Juniata comeback bid in midway through the third quarter when Harmon put the finishing touches on a three-score day with a 29-yard touchdown carry  to extend the Kish advantage to 5-2.

James Gehman put Juniata back on the board with three ticks to go in the third with a five-yard touchdown run to bring the score to a 5-3 Kish advantage with a quarter of action to play.

Both defenses performed admirably in the fourth quarter, with Juniata forcing two Kish miscues, but neither team could find the scoreboard and Kish picked up its eighth win of the season with a 5-3 victory.

Pee Wees

Burnham  31 – Terrace 12

BURNHAM, Pa . – Burnham ran out to a 25-0 lead and never looked back as the Bulldogs took a 31-12 victory over the Terrace Tigers on Sunday afternoon.

Connor Rose opened the scoring for the Bulldogs on a 15-yard touchdown run with 4:18 to play in the first to build a 7-0 Burnham lead.

Burnham got back on the board midway through the second quarter when Ricky Jenkins barrelled in from the five-yard line to extend the lead to 13-0.

After the game’s opening scores on the ground, Burnham went to the air for back-to-back scores to open up a 25-0 lead with under a minute to play in the opening half. Quarterback Chantz Williams connected with Rose twice on connections of 8 and 25 yards to build the sizeable lead.

Terrace had the final say in the half when Ashtyn Wagner connected with Reece Hagerty on a 75 yard pitch-and-catch to cut the Burnham lead to 25-6 at the intermission.

The Tigers chipped away at the Burnham lead in the third quarter when they took advantage of a fumbled punt and returned the Burnham miscue to the endzone to cut the deficit to 25-12.

Burnham used a special teams score to wrap up the win when Ricky Jenkins ran a Terrace punt to the house as the Bulldogs earned their fifth win of the year by a 31-12 tally. 

McVeytown 40 – Derry-Decatur 0

ALFARATA, Pa. – Owen Fultz notched a defensive score on a fumble recovery in the waning moments of the first quarter to open the scoring and the offense did the rest as the McVeytown Eagles rolled to a 40-0 victory on Sunday afternoon over Derry-Decatur.

Following the defensive score, McVeytown added insurance with seven ticks to go in the first when Mathew Hartsock stormed in from the two-yard line to push McVeytown out to a 13-0 lead after a quarter of play.

Midway through the second stanza Calvin Napikoski got in on the scoring with a 15-yard scamper to the house to push McVeytown out to a 20-0 halftime lead.

McVeytown added another score in the third quarter when Lincoln Knable found paydirt on a five-yard carry to push the Eagles advantage to 27-0 after three quarters of action.

Jayse Snyder got in on the action with 6:52 to play when he sprinted to the enzone from the 15-yard line, extending the McVeytown lead to 34-0.

Knable rounded out the scoring for the Eagles with his second touchdown of the day with less than two minutes to play to propel McVeytown to a 40-0 victory.

Along with Fultz’s defensives score, Cole Laughlin added a pair of stops to lead the McVeytown defense.

Kish 34 – Juniata 0

REEDSVILLE, Pa. – After wrapping up the regular season crown a week ago, the Kish Indians continued their shutout streak with a resounding 34-0 victory over the Juniata Little Indians on Sunday afternoon.

Kish struck on the game’s opening drive to run out to a 6-0 lead. Duke Peachey took a sweep on third down and did the rest on his way to the endzone and an early Kish lead.

After forcing a Juniata three-and-out, Kish struck again quickly when Jase Atherton ran into the endzone to build a 12-0 advantage. Peachey connected with on the ensuing two-point conversion to extend the lead to 14-0.

Kish wasn’t done in the first quarter as Easton Trutt fought off numerous Juniata defenders on a designed keeper to push the Indians out to a 21-0 advantage.

Following the early offensive onslaught, the Kish defense got on the board when Kannon Moyer intercepted a Juniata pass and took it to the house for a 27-0 Kish lead after a quarter of play.

Kish added a score in the second quarter when Atherton found the endzone for his second score of the day as the Indians stormed out to a 34-0 halftime lead.

Both teams battled back and forth in the second half, but neither team broke through in a defensive struggle but it was Kish eventually rolling to a 34-0 victory. 

Midgets

McVeytown 33 – Derry-Decatur 0  

ALFARATA, Pa. – Four different players found the endzone and the defense pitched a shutout as the McVeytown Eagles claimed the regular season Midget division title with a resounding 33-0 road victory over the Derry-Decatur Cyclones.

Bentley Felmlee opened the scoring for McVeytown midway through the first quarter when he stormed into the endzone on a 35-yard run to build a 7-0 Eagles lead.

Felmlee added his second score of the afternoon midway through the second quarter on a long run. The youngster raced to the house from 75 yards out for his longest touchdown of the season to push the Eagles ahead by a 13-0 tally.

McVeytown scored twice in nine seconds to roll out to a 26-0 halftime lead. Blake Specht scampered in from the five to build a 20-0 lead with 20 ticks to play in the opening half.

The Eagles picked off a Derry-Decatur pass on the ensuing Cyclones possession to set up their final score of the half. Brayden Hess scampered in on a 15-yard run with 11 seconds to play in the opening half as McVeytown owned a 26-0 halftime lead.

Following a scoreless third quarter, the Eagles wrapped up the scoring with 3:25 to play in the fourth quarter. Treyson Yohn connected with Cole Eversole on a seven-yard strike to wrap up a 33-0 McVeytown victory.

Felmlee led the defense with seven tackles while Specht chipped in five stops in the win.

Burnham 28 – Terrace 26

BURNHAM, Pa . – Malachi Galbraith accounted for two touchdowns on the day as the host Burnham Bulldogs completed the season sweep over the defending champion Terrace Tigers behind a thrilling 28-26 victory on Sunday afternoon.

The win secured a spot for the Bulldogs in the Midget Super Bowl where they will take on McVeytown.

Terrace owned an early lead in the matchup after tallying the game’s opening score to own a 7-0 lead after a quarter of play.

Eli Galbraith joined his brother Malachi on the scoreboard in the second quarter for Burnham while the Tigers added another score in the frame, but it was Burnham owning a slim 15-13 halftime lead.

Out of the intermission, Burnham tallied two scores in the third quarter to run out to a 28-13 lead as the game headed to the final frame. Colton Cherry scored on the ground for the Bulldogs in the quarter and Malachi Galbraith hauled in a pass from his brother Eli to wrap up the scoring for Burnham in the quarter.

Terrace scored twice in the fourth quarter but the comeback bid came up just short as Burnham held on for a 28-26 victory.

LEWISTOWN, Pa. – There may still be some football left to play, but the Central Keystone Youth Football & Cheer League (CKYFCL) wrapped up the bulk of the 2024 cheer season on Saturday with its annual Cheer Competition at Mifflin County High School.

Champions were crowned in each division, with the Kish Indians claiming the Mighty Might and Pee Wee divisions, and the Terrace Tigers hoisting the title in the Midget division.

Along with the main division championships, the league also crowned two additional award winners to round out an exciting day on the mats. The Spirit Award went to the Kish Indians while the Community Service Award went to the Burnham Bulldogs.

LEWISTOWN, Pa . – With the season coming to a close, the Kish Indians wrapped up regular season championships in the Mighty Might and Pee Wee divisions as the Central Keystone Youth Football & Cheer League (CKYFCL) postseason picture came into clearer view.

MIGHTY MIGHTS

Kish 6 – McVeytown 4

REEDSVILLE, Pa. – Kish used a pair of four-quarter scores to pull away late and secure the 2024 Mighty Might division regular season crown with a hard-fought 6-4 victory over the visiting McVeytown Eagles on Sunday afternoon.

On the game’s opening possession, Jack Wagner put the host Indians on the scoreboard with a four-yard touchdown burst to put Kish out in front by a 1-0 tally.

McVeytown scored the equalizer with 1:55 to play in the first quarter when Knox Hartman punched it in from one yard out to knot the game up at a score each.

Kish had the final say in the waning moments of the first quarter. Bennett Harmon ran the ball into the endzone from the 10 to put Kish out in front by a 2-1 margin as the game headed to the second frame.

Hartman notched his second score of the day with 4:40 to play in the first half when he barrelled into the endzone to knot the game up at two each.

Kish regained the lead in the waning minutes of the first half to take a 3-2 lead into the intermission. Harmon scored on a 33-yard burst for his second score of the afternoon to send the Indians to the locker room with a slim one-score lead.

The back-and-forth affair continued out of the halftime break. Bryce Seedes punched it in from the 13 with 7:30 to go in the third quarter, tying the score up at a 3-3 tally.

Once again it was Harmon pushing Kish back in front with four minutes to play in the third. Harmon sprinted 33 yards to the endzone to build a 4-3 Kish lead with the game heading to the final quarter.

Harmon wasn’t finished on the afternoon as he scored a three-yard touchdown with 4:55 to play to push the Kish lead to two scores at a 5-3 gap.

McVeytown looked to rally late when Stetson Bordell scored on a 10-yard carry, but Harmon had the final say with 2:05 to go when he sprinted 35 yards to the endzone to propel Kish to a hard-earned 6-4 victory.

Burnham 3 – Juniata 2

BURNHAM, Pa. – Robert Davis scored twice and Kyson Miller added a score as the Burnham Bulldogs picked up a season sweep of the Juniata Little Indians with a 3-2 victory on Sunday afternoon.

Davis opened the scoring with a 15-yard touchdown run on the game’s opening drive to put Burnham out in front by a 1-0 tally.

Juniata scored the equalizer early in the second quarter when James Gehman barrelled in from the one-yard line to knot the game up at a score each.

Following the Juniata score, Burnham had the final say in the opening half. Miller galloped across the goalline on a nine-yard carry with 6:29 to go in the first half to put the Bulldogs back out in front by a 2-1 score.

Both defenses held true in the third quarter as Burnham owned a slim 2-1 advantage as the game shifted to the final frame.

Davis bookended the day with a five-yard touchdown run with 5:52 to go as Burnham extended its lead to 3-1.

Juniata wouldn’t go away without a fight.

Ryker Stahl answered the Burnham score with one of his own on the ensuing Little Indians drive to bridge the gap to 3-2 with 4:49 to play but it wasn’t enough as Burnham picked up a hard-fought 3-2 victory.

Terrace 7 – Derry-Decatur 0

PEE WEES

Kish 13 – McVeytown 12

REEDSVILLE, Pa. – Kish ran out to a two-score lead after the first quarter of play and held off a late-game charge from visiting McVeytown as the host Indians secured the regular season Pee Wee division championship behind a 13-12 victory on Sunday afternoon.

Kish forced a McVeytown fumble on the opening series of the game and Knox Wagner came up with the recovery. Kish worked its way downfield and capped off the drive when Wyatt Hassinger connected with Jase Atherton for a score to build a 7-0 Kish lead.

After the defense forced a McVeytown punt, Kish got back on the board as a long Hassinger touchdown run pushed the lead to 13-0 after the first quarter of play.

McVeytown got on the board in the second quarter to trim the deficit to a single score at a 13-6 tally when Mathew Hartsock pounded the ball in from the one-yard line with 1:46 to go in the first half.

Out of the halftime break, McVeytown struck again with 56 ticks to go in the third quarter when Hartsock found paydirt on a 35-yard sprint to cut the game to a 13-12 Kish lead. The visiting Eagles were kept out of the endzone on the extra point attempt when Duke Peachey picked off a Calvin Napikoski pass to maintain a 13-12 Kish lead as the game moved to the fourth quarter.

Both defenses were up to the task in the fourth quarter as Kish held on and secured its eighth win of the year by a 13-12 margin.

Hartsock led the way for the McVeytown defense with seven stops. Alex Weaver chipped in a trio of tackles in the loss.

Juniata 21 – Burnham 12

BURNHAM, Pa. – The three-headed rushing attack of Mason DeLancey, Michael Lorenz, and Cooper Snyder each found the endzone as Juniata ran its way to a 21-12 victory over the Burnham Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon.

Lorenz got the visiting Little Indians on the scoreboard in the first quarter with a 12-yard touchdown run to put Juniata out in front by a 7-0 tally with 4:07 to go in the first.

Burnham got on the board in the waning moments of the first half when Chantz Williams scored from the two-yard line to send the game to the half with Juniata clinging to a 7-6 advantage.

Out of the intermission, Juniata scored the lone touchdown of the third quarter when Snyder bolted in from 25 yards out to extend the Little Indians lead to 14-6 as the game headed to the final frame.

Juniata extended its lead to 21-6 midway through the fourth quarter when DeLancey barrelled in from the 25.

Burnham scored late but it wasn’t enough as Juniata picked up a split in the season series with the Bulldogs with a 21-12 victory.

Terrace 7 – Derry-Decatur 0

MIDGETS

McVeytown 26 – Kish 2

REEDSVILLE, Pa. – Bentley Felmlee scored three times on the ground and as the McVeytown Eagles rolled to their sixth victory of the season with a 26-2 win over the Kish Indians on Sunday afternoon.

McVeytown broke the early deadlock when Colt Bratton barrelled into the endzone from the four-yard line with 34 ticks to go in the opening stanza to put the Eagles out in front by a 6-0 score.

Felmlee got on the scoreboard in a big way in the second quarter to extend the Eagles’ lead to 13-0 when he sprinted 50 yards to the endzone with 8:08 to go in the first half.

Following an exchange, Felmlee rounded out the first-half scoring with a 30-yard touchdown run to send McVeytown to the locker room with a 19-0 lead.

Kish’s defense scored the only points in the third quarter by recording a safety to cut the deficit to 19-2 as the game headed to the final frame.

Felmlee capped off the day with a 25-yard scamper with 7:50 remaining in the game to push McVeytown out to a 26-2 score which is how the game would end.

Along with his offensive prowess, Felmlee led the Eagles defense with eight tackles. Treyson Yohn chipped in six stops while Zander Fultz and Carter Smith added four tackles each in the win.

Terrace 25 – Derry-Decatur 13
