Week 10: League Regular Season Wraps Up with Full Slate of Action

LEWISTOWN, Pa. – After more than 100 games and two full-months of competition, the 2025 Central Keystone Youth Football & Cheer League (CKYFCL) regular season came to its conclusion on Sunday afternoon. 

At the conclusion of Sunday’s games a tiebreaker scenario was used to determine Midget division seeding. Due to the season point differential tiebreaker criteria, Derry-Decatur earned the four-seed. Terrace earned the five-seed and Burnham earned the sixth-seed. 

PEE WEES

Juniata 14 – Burnham 6

PORT ROYAL, Pa. – James Gehman scored and Easton Hostler tallied a safety to break a 6-6 deadlock as the Juniata Little Indians booked a trip to the Pee Wee Championship game with a hard-fought 14-6 victory over the Burnham Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon. 

With the win, Juniata completed the season sweep of the Bulldogs and finished the regular season in the runner-up spot in the Pee Wee division standings. 

Ryker Stahl scored on a 20-yard touchdown run to open the scoring, but Burnham knotted the game up with the second quarter score of its own to send the contest to the locker room at a 6-6 deadlock. 

Following a scoreless third quarter, Juniata broke the tie in the fourth frame. Gehman’s five-yard touchdown scamper put the Little Indians out in front by a 12-6 tally in the final quarter. 

Burnham looked to move downfield, but Hostler had other ideas as he recorded a sack in the endzone to finalize the scoring at a 14-6 Juniata triumph. 

Juniata meets Kish in the Pee Wee Championship which will be held on Saturday, November 8 at 5 p.m. at Chapman Stadium. Burnham returns to action on Saturday, November 8 when it tangles with McVeytown in the 3 vs 4 matchup at noon at Chapman Stadium. 

Kish 39 – Derry-Decatur 0 

REEDSVILLE, Pa. – Bennett Harmon rushed for a score and threw two more as the Kish Indians rounded out an undefeated regular season in style with a 39-0 victory on Sunday afternoon over the Derry-Decatur Cyclones. 

Harmon opened the scoring with a 10-yard touchdown run to build a 6-0 Kish lead with 6:34 to play in the opening quarter. 

The youngster’s heroics continued on the ensuing Kish drive as he connected with Quay Vogt on a nine-yard touchdown pass to push the Indians out to a 12-0 lead at the end of the first frame. 

Early in the second quarter, the Harmon-Vogt connection struck again, this time on a 35-yard route to extend the Kish lead to 18-0. Jack Wagner added the extra point for a 19-0 Indians advantage with 9:04 remaining in the first half. 

Emmett Hostetler rounded out a busy first half for the home team when he powered across the goal line on a three-yard carry to push Kish out to a 25-0 halftime lead. 

Kish wasted little time in adding to its lead at the start of the second half. Wagner scampered 35 yard to pay dirt and Layton Glick added the extra point for a 32-0 Kish lead. With 8:30 to play in the third quarter. 

Hugh Harmon rounded out the scoring on the day with a 36-yard touchdown run and Glick added the extra point to finalize a 39-0 Kish victory. 

The shutout win was Kish’s seventh of the season. 

With the win, Kish advances to the Pee Wee Championship game against Juniata with the contest being held on Saturday, November 8 at 5 p.m. at Chapman Stadium. Derry-Decatur will do battle with Terrace when the two teams meet up on Saturday, November 8 at 10 a.m. at Chapman Stadium. 

McVeytown 39 – Terrace 12

JUNIATA TERRACE, Pa. – Lucas Moist and Maddyx Sunderland each scored twice on the ground to lead the way as the McVeytown Eagles rolled to a 39-12 triumph over the Terrace Tigers on Sunday afternoon. 

The win secured the number three seed for the Eagles in the upcoming Bowl Weekend festivities. 

McVeytown got the scoring started in the first quarter when Moist bolted to the endzone on a 15-yard run to put the Eagles out in front by a 7-0 score. 

Sunderland found Layton Yoder on a two-yard strike to open the second quarter scoring, before Knox Hartman barreled three yards for a touchdown as the Eagles rolled to a 21-0 halftime advantage. 

Out of the intermission, Sunderland added a 44-yard touchdown run and Moist struck pay dirt for the second time to extend the McVeytown lead. Terrace scored in the quarter as well, but it was the Eagles owning a 33-6 lead as the game shifted to the final quarter. 

Sunderland scored on an eight-yard carry and Terrace struck once more in the fourth quarter but it wasn’t enough as McVeytown cruised to a 39-12 victory. 

Moist led the McVeytown defense with nine tackles while Clayton Fisher and Jaxon Smith each chipped in four stops in the win. 

McVeytown is back in action when it battles Burnham in the 3 vs 4 matchup on Saturday, November 8 at noon at Chapman Stadium. Terrace wraps up the season on Saturday, November 8 when it tangles with Derry-Decatur at 10 a.m. at Chapman Stadium. 

MIDGETS

Kish-North 18 – Derry-Decatur 14

REEDSVILLE, Pa. – With the squad’s unbeaten season on the line, Duke Peachey powered the ball across the goal line with 2:38 to play and the defense held strong down the stretch as the Kish-North Indians came from behind for an 18-14 victory over Derry-Decatur on Sunday afternoon. 

Defense was the name of the game in the first half both teams struggled to mount any sort of effective offensive drive. Derry-Decatur picked off a Peachey pass on the first drive to slam the door shut on the Indians drive. 

Derry Decatur drove the ball down into Kish-North territory late in the first half. As time ran off the first-half clock, Peachey intercepted a Derry-Decatur pass and returned it 70 yards for a touchdown to hand Kish-North a 6-0 halftime lead. 

Out of the intermission, the Cyclones got on the board quickly when Easton Smith returned the opening kickoff of the half for a score to tie the contest at 6-6. 

Derry Decatur’s stingy defense was up to the task, forcing a Kish-North three-and-out. The Cyclones special teams unit deflected the punt at the line of scrimmage and the ball landed in the arms of a Derry Decatur defender at the five-yard line to set the Cyclones up with good field position. The Cyclones cashed in quickly to take the lead and converted the two-point attempt to take a 14-6 lead. 

Kish-North struck twice in the fourth quarter to earn the comeback win. Julian Altiery scored on a two-yard touchdown run to cut the Derry-Decatur lead to 14-12 with 6:52 remaining in regulation. 

Following the Altiery score, the Kish-North defense rose to the occasion on the next defensive series forcing a Derry-Decatur three-and-out. 

Kish-North took over and used a balanced rushing attack to move the ball deep into the redzone. Peachey punched the ball in on a two-yard carry to put Kish-North out in front by an 18-14 score with 2:38 to play.  

Derry Decatur mounted a last ditch effort able to move the ball down the field. Kish-North forced a long yardage situation and came up with the turnover on downs to seal the victory.

Kish-North is back in action on Sunday, November 9 when it tangles with McVeytown in the Midget Championship Game. Kickoff with the Eagles is set for 5 p.m. at Chapman Stadium. Derry-Decatur is back in action on Sunday, November 9 when it battles Juniata at 3 p.m. at Chapman Stadium. 

McVeytown 32 – Terrace 6

JUNIATA TERRACE, Pa. – Calvin Napikoski rushed for two scores and caught a touchdown pass to lead the McVeytown Eagles to a 32-6 victory over the Terrace Tigers on Sunday afternoon. 

With the win, McVeytown completed a season sweep of the series with the Tigers. 

Napikoski got the scoring started with 7:01 to play in the opening quarter when he pounded the ball into the end zone from the five yard line to build a 6-0 McVeytown lead. The youngster added the extra point to put the Eagles out in front, 7-0. 

In the waning minutes of the first quarter, Alex Weaver dropped back and found Napikoski on a 35-yard route to put the visitors in front by a 13-0 tally. 

McVeytown scored three times in a busy second quarter to build a 32-0 halftime lead. Napikoski got the second-quarter scoring started with a 35 yard touchdown run and Canyan Brown added the extra point for a 20-0 Eagles lead. 

Jayse Snyder picked off a Terrace pass and returned it to the end zone before a Brown touchdown run with 72 ticks to play in the first half extended the McVeytown advantage to 32-0 at the half. 

Owen Deans scored on a one-yard touchdown run in the waning moments of the contest to break the McVeytown shutout and finalize a 32-6 Eagles victory. 

Snyder’s pick-six led the McVeytown defense, while Henley Strausser forced a fumble and Owen Fultz recovered a fumble in the win. 

McVeytown is back in action on Sunday, November 9 when it plays Kish-North in the Midget Championship game. Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m. at Chapman Stadium. Terrace is back in action on Sunday, November 9 at 1 p.m. when the Tigers battle the winner of the play-in game slated for Wednesday, November 5 between Burnham and Kish-South.

League Announces 2025 Bowl Weekend Schedule

LEWISTOWN, Pa. – The regular season is in the books and the Central Keystone Youth Football & Cheer League (CKYFCL) has announced official pairings for the 2025 Bowl Weekend to be held at Kish Bank Field at Donald M. Chapman III Stadium.

At the conclusion of Sunday’s games, a tiebreaker scenario was used to determine Midget division seeding. Due to the season point differential tiebreaker criteria, Derry-Decatur earned the four-seed. Terrace earned the five-seed and Burnham earned the sixth-seed.

This year’s main slate of games will be played on Saturday, November 8 and Sunday, November 9. There will also be a Midget division play-in game to determine Terrace’s opponent as Kish-South meets up with Burnham on Wednesday, November 5 at 5:30 p.m. at Armagh Memorial Field.

Bowl weekend opens up on Saturday, November 8 with a pair of Pee Wee matchups starting at 10 a.m when fifth-seeded Terrace meets up with six-seed Derry-Decatur. During the regular season, Terrace swept Derry-Decatur behind 31-13 and 14-6 victories, respectively. 

Following the opener, Pee Wee action continues at noon when the third-seeded McVeytown does battle with fourth-seeded Burnham. The two teams split the season series. 

After the conclusion of the 3 vs 4 matchup in the Pee Wee division, the Mighty Mights will take to the field for three flag games to cap off the season. Burnham meets Derry-Decatur at 2:00 p.m., Kish does battle with Terrace at 2:15 p.m. and Juniata tangles with McVeytown at 2:30 p.m.

Saturday’s full slate of action concludes with the Pee Wee Championship game putting regular season champion Kish against Juniata. Kish swept the season series with the Little Indians en route to an unblemished 2025 campaign. 

Sunday’s slate of games opens with a Midget-division matchup at 1 p.m. when Terrace does battle with the winner of the play-in game slated for Wednesday between Burnham and Kish-South. 

The Midget heavy Sunday slate continues with a matchup between third-seeded Juniata and fourth-seeded Derry-Decatur. The two teams split the regular season series.  

Bowl Weekend wraps up with the Midget Championship game between Kish-North and McVeytown at 5 p.m. Kish-North swept the season series with McVeytown as the Indians look to return to the top of the heap in the Midget division. 

Fans are reminded that the game start times are approximate and could be adjusted to accommodate an earlier start time should games move quickly and ahead of schedule. 

Additionally, all rules and regulations of the Mifflin County School District (MCSD) will be in place for the duration of the weekend’s events.

Week 9 Recap: October Part of Slate Concludes with Midget Log Jam in the Standings

LEWISTOWN, Pa. – The October part of the schedule is in the books and the regular season has one week remaining after action across the Central Keystone Youth Football & Cheer League (CKYFCL) on Sunday afternoon. 

Entering the final week of action, there’s a log jam with a four-way tie for third place in the league’s Midget division. Meanwhile, the Pee Wee division’s final weekend of action will have championship game implications.

PEE WEES

McVeytown 12 – Juniata 6

MCVEYTOWN, Pa. – Knox Hartman rushed 58 yards to the end zone to break a 6-6 deadlock in the fourth quarter to lead the McVeytown Eagles to a hard-fought 12-6 victory over the Juniata Little Indians on Sunday afternoon. 

The win for McVeytown earned the Eagles a well-needed split in the season series with one week remaining in the regular season. 

Following a scoreless first quarter of play, McVeytown got on the board in the second quarter of play when Maddyx Sunderland connected with Triton Moist on an 11-yard route to build a 6-0 Eagles lead at the intermission. 

Juniata used a big special teams play to knot the game up. Ryker Stahl fielded a McVeytown punt and sprinted to the end zone for a 6-6 deadlock with a quarter of action remaining. 

Hartman broke the deadlock with a 58-yard touchdown run in the final quarter and McVeytown’s defense held the Little Indians off the scoreboard as the Eagles earned a 12-6 victory. 

Lucas Moist led the McVeytown defense with a nine-tackle day. Clayton Fisher chipped in six stops in the win. 

McVeytown is back in action on Sunday, November 2 when it visits Terrace in a must-win game for the Eagles championship game aspirations. Kickoff against the Tigers is set for 1:00 p.m. Juniata will look to secure its spot in the championship game when it hosts Burnham in another marquee matchup. Kickoff against the Bulldogs is set for 1:00 p.m.

Kish 40 – Terrace 0 

JUNIATA TERRACE, Pa. – Karter Gieza scored on the opening play of the game and the regular-season champion Kish Indians never looked back in a 40-0 victory over the Terrace Tigers. 

After a solid kick return set the Indians up with good field position, Gieza’s 44-yard touchdown run put Kish out in front by a 6-0 tally.  

Kish’s special teams unit recovered the ensuing kickoff when Quay Vogt pounced on the ball to give the Indians the ball deep in Terrace territory. Vogt scored on the Kish possession when he ran the ball into the end zone on a 37-yard carry and added the ensuing extra point for a 13-0 Indians lead just 30 seconds in the game. 

The Kish defense was up to the task on the first Terrace drive as Eli Jackson jumped on a fumble forced by Jack Wagner to put the ball back in the offense’s hands. 

Bennett Harmon added a 19-yard touchdown run and Layton Glick converted the extra point for a 20-0 Kish lead. 

Wagner scored on a three-yard touchdown run to wrap up a busy first quarter with Kish leading by a commanding 28-0 tally. 

Terrace looked to get on the board at the end of the first half of play when JaShawn Henry scampered downfield on a 40-yard carry but the Tigers were held out of the endzone as Kish owned a 28-0 halftime lead. 

Following a scoreless third quarter, Kish added two scores in the fourth quarter to wrap up the win. Emmett Hostetler scored on the opening play of the fourth quarter on a 35-yard touchdown run and Glick scored yet again with a nine-yard run in the waning moments of action to propel Kish to a 40-0 victory. 

Wagner and Oakley Maurer led the Indians defense with five stops each. 

Kish is back in action on Sunday, November 2 when it hosts Derry-Decatur in the regular season finale. Kickoff with the Cyclones is set for 1:00 p.m. Terrace is back on the gridiron on Sunday, November 2 when it hosts McVeytown. Kickoff with the Eagles is set for 1:00 p.m.

MIDGETS

Derry-Decatur 34 – Burnham 12

ALFARATA, Pa. – Derry-Decatur led after a quarter of play, then scored 13 unanswered points in the second quarter to run away to a 34-12 victory over the visiting Burnham Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon. 

The win for Derry-Decatur was its third in the last four games as the Cyclones are tied for third place in the season standings with one week to play. 

Connor Rose scored on a quarterback keeper for the Bulldogs in the the first quarter, but Derry-Decatur scored twice in the frame to take a 14-6 lead after the opening stanza. 

Derry-Decatur added two second quarter scores to take a commanding 27-6 lead into the intermission. 

Rose connected with Archer Curry on a 10-yard pitch and catch in the third quarter and Derry-Decatur matched to finalize the scoring at a 34-12 Cyclones victory. 

Derry-Decatur is back in action on Sunday, November 2 when it travels to regular-season champion Kish-North for the regular season finale. Kickoff with the Indians is set for 3:00 p.m. Burnham will look to get back on track when it travels to Juniata for a key matchup with postseason seeding implications. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m.

McVeytown 15 – Juniata 0 

MCVEYTOWN, Pa. – Alex Weaver scored on a 77-yard touchdown run and the McVeytown defense did the rest as the Eagles reigned supreme by a 15-0 tally over the Juniata Little Indians on Sunday afternoon. 

The win completed a season sweep of the Little Indians by the Eagles as the season enters its final week. 

Weaver’s touchdown run broke an early deadlock and Calvin Napikoski added the extra point as McVeytown led by a 7-0 score with 7:46 to play in the opening stanza. 

Napikoski added a 15-yard touchdown run later in the quarter to extend the lead. Weaver connected with Jayse Snyder on the two-point conversion to push the Eagles to a 15-0 lead after a quarter of play. 

Both defenses settled in over the remainder of the contest before McVeytown eventually prevailed by a 15-0 tally. 

Napikoski and Weaver both forced fumbles, while Snyder and Owen Fultz recovered fumbles to lead a busy afternoon for the McVeytown defense. 

McVeytown is back in action on Sunday, November 2 when it visits Terrace in the season finale. Kickoff against the Tigers is set for 3:00 p.m. Juniata returns to action on Sunday, November 2 when it hosts Burnham at 3:00 p.m.

Kish-South 15 – Terrace 6

JUNIATA TERRACE, Pa. – Kish-South trailed early but surged back from the early deficit as the Indians avenged an early-season loss by defeating the Terrace Tigers by a 15-6 tally on Sunday afternoon. 

Terrace opened the scoring in the contest with a 12-yard Isaac Torres touchdown run to take a 6-0 lead but those were the only points the Kish-South defense surrendered on the day. 

Out of the intermission, Kish-South got on the board as Easton Trutt hooked up with Chase Yoder on a 20-yard pitch and catch to tie the score at 6-6. The tandem connected on the two-point conversion to push the Indians out to an 8-6 lead. 

Kish-South wasn’t finished as the Indians scored again with 47 ticks to play in the frame. Knox Wagner scampered in from the seven yard line and Chase Yoder tallied the extra point to build a two-score lead for Kish-South at a 15-6 tally. 

The Kish-South defense was up to the task all afternoon as Bennett Rager and Wagner each recovered fumbles in the victory. Paxton Snook also recorded an interception along the way, while Quintin Rowe added 2 sacks at key junctures of the contest. 

The victory wraps up the regular season for Kish-South. Terrace returns to action on Sunday, November 2 when it hosts McVeytown. Kickoff against the Eagles is set for 3:00 p.m.

Kish Sweeps 2025 Cheer Competition

LEWISTOWN, Pa. – There may still be some football left to play, but the Central Keystone Youth Football & Cheer League (CKYFCL) wrapped up the bulk of the 2025 cheer season on Saturday with its annual Cheer Competition at Mifflin County High School.

Champions were crowned in each division, with the Kish Indians claiming top honors in each division of competition.

Along with the main division championships, the league also crowned three additional award winners – including a brand new honor –  to round out an exciting day on the mats. 

The Spirit Award went to the Derry-Decatur Cyclones, while the Community Service Award went to the Burnham Bulldogs.

This year saw the crowning of a league Cheer Coach of the Year as well. Terrace Tigers cheer coach Tricia Schaeffer was honored at the 2025 CKYFCL Coach of the Year for her efforts during the 2025 season. Coach of the Year honors were voted on by Schaeffer’s peers.

Week 8 Recap: Kish Claims Regular Season Pee Wee Title

LEWISTOWN, Pa. – Another week is in the books and another regular season champion was crowned as the Kish Indians remained unbeaten to secure the number one seed in the upcoming Central Keystone Youth Football & Cheer League (CKYFCL) postseason. 

PEE WEES

Kish 19 – Burnham 0

BURNHAM, Pa. – Three different players struck pay dirt as the Kish Indians secured the top-seed and regular season Pee Wee division championship on Sunday with a 19-0 victory over the Burnham Bulldogs. 

The win was Kish’s fifth shutout victory of the year. 

Following a scoreless opening quarter, Kish got on the board with 7:20 to play in the first half. Bennett Harmon sprinted to the end zone on a 31-yard run to put the visiting Indians out in front 6-0. Harmon added the extra point for a 7-0 Kish lead. 

The stingy Kish defense ended the half on a high note when Carson Wiser picked off a Burnham pass to maintain a seven-point advantage for the Indians at the intermission. 

Late in the third quarter, Harmon went to the air and found Eli Jackson on a 16-yard strike to extend the Kish lead to 13-0 with 50 ticks to play in the third stanza. 

Kish finalized the scoring on its ensuing drive as Jack Wagner powered the ball across the goal line on a one-yard carry to wrap up a 19-0 Kish victory. 

Karter Gieza led the Kish defense with 10 tackles, while Oakley Maurer chipped in four stops in the win. 

Kish is back in action on Sunday, October 26 when it visits Terrace for a 1:00 p.m. matchup with the Tigers. Burnham will look to get back on track on Sunday, October 26 when it travels to Derry-Decatur for a 1:00 p.m. showdown with the Cyclones. 

McVeytown 48 – Derry-Decatur 0

MCVEYTOWN, Pa. – Maddyx Sunderland scored three times in the second half and rushed for over 200 yards to lead five different scorers as the McVeytown Eagles rolled to a 48-0 victory over Derry-Decatur on Sunday afternoon. 

With the win, McVeytown moved into a tie for third place in the league standings with Burnham.

McVeytown got on the board in a hurry when Stetson Bordell scampered into the end zone on a 25-yard run to build a 7-0 lead. 

Sunderland connected with Triton Moist on an 18-yard pattern and Layton Yoder powered the ball across the goal line later in the quarter as the host Eagles led by a 22-0 score after a quarter of play. 

The busy first half continued for McVeytown as Lucas Moist scored on a 44 -yard touchdown run to extend the McVeytown lead to 29-0. 

Sunderland’s heroics continued – this time on the ground – as the youngster sprinted 81 yards to the end zone to build a 36-0 Eagles lead at the break. 

Sunderland added scores of 55 yards and 50 yards in the second half as McVeytown cruised to a 48-0 victory over the Cyclones. 

McVeytown was led defensively by Lucas Moist’s six tackles. Clayton Fisher chipped in three stops in the win. 

McVeytown is back in action on Sunday, October 26 when it hosts Juniata in a matchup with large postseason implications. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. Derry-Decatur returns to the gridiron on Sunday, October 26 when it hosts Burnham for a 1:00 p.m. matchup with the Bulldogs. 

Juniata 39 – Terrace 0 

BURNHAM, Pa. – Ryker Stahl scored twice on the ground and added a punt return for a score to lead three different scorers as the Juniata Little Indians pulled away to a 39-0 victory over the Terrace Tigers on Sunday afternoon 

Stahl scored on runs of 25 and 17 yards, respectively and added a 53-yard punt return touchdown to lead the Indians efforts. 

James Gehman tallied two scores on the ground – 13 and 17 yard scores, respectively – and Stephen Batarick added a 17-yard touchdown run to lead the Juniata offensive attack. 

Juniata is back in action on Sunday, October 26 when it travels to McVeytown for a 1:00 p.m. affair with the second-place Eagles. Terrace will look to get back on track on Sunday, October 26 when it hosts regular-season champion Kish. Kickoff with the Indians is set for 1:00 p.m.

Kish-North 33 – Burnham 16

BURNHAM, Pa. – Kish-North stormed out to a 33-0 lead and never looked back as the regular season champions dispatched a feisty Burnham squad by a 33-16 tally on Sunday afternoon. 

Kish-North won the toss and elected to receive and kept the chains moving on a methodical drive. Duke Peachey broke around the right side for a 27-yard touchdown run at the 5:03 mark to break the deadlock for an early Indians lead. Wyatt Hassinger added the extra point for a 7-0 Kish-North lead. 

Peachey found Hassinger later in the first quarter on a long pass down the right side of the field to add some additional cushion for the Indians. Jasper Snook added the extra point to take a 14-0 lead into the second quarter. 

After a Jace Glick interception gave the Indians solid field position, Hassinger picked up his second touchdown of the game – this time a 17-yard catch and run – at the 8:18 mark of the second quarter. 

Glick wasn’t finished on defense. The youngster recorded his second interception of the game and got on the ledger by taking it 15 yards to the end zone for a 26-0 Kish-North lead at the half. 

Colton Baumgardner scored on a quarterback-keeper in the third quarter and Colt Atherton added the extra point run making to propel Kish-North to a 33-0 advantage in the waning moments of the fourth quarter. 

Burnham wouldn’t go down without a fight. The Bulldogs scored twice in the fourth quarter on the efforts of Connor Rose as the hosts looked to make a game of it late. Rose connected with Aidan Alexander on both scores, but the hole was too deep for the Bulldogs to dig out of as Kish-North prevailed by a 33-16 score. 

Kish-North is back in action on Sunday, November 2 when it wraps up the regular season with a 3:00 p.m. showdown with Derry-Decatur. Burnham returns to action on Sunday, October 26 when it travels to Derry-Decatur for a 3:00 p.m. affair with the Cyclones. 

McVeytown 20 – Derry-Decatur 6

MCVEYTOWN, Pa. – Derry-Decatur led early, but McVeytown rattled off 20 unanswered points as the Eagles came-from-behind for a 20-6 victory over the Cyclones on Sunday afternoon. 

Easton Smith broke an early deadlock with a 60-yard touchdown run to give the visiting Cyclones a 6-0 lead with 5:10 to play in the first quarter. 

McVeytown responded on the ensuing drive. Alex Weaver stormed into the end zone with a 55-yard run to knot the game up at 6-6 after a quarter of play. 

Midway through the second quarter, McVeytown took the lead for good. Calvin Napikoski scampered into from 15 yards out and added the extra point to build a 13-6 Eagles lead at the break. 

McVeytown finalized the scoring in the third quarter when Weaver found Napikoski on a 70-yard pitch and catch. Cole Laughlin ran in the extra point to wrap up a 20-6 McVeytown victory. 

With the win, McVeytown secured its spot in the Midget Championship game where it will look to upend a Kish-North squad that swept the season series.

Week 7 Recap: Wet Weather Wraps Up Weekend Action

LEWISTOWN, Pa. – With the league regular season quickly drawing to a close, the Central Keystone Youth Football & Cheer League took to a soggy gridiron on Sunday afternoon as part of week seven activities. 

PEE WEES

Burnham 6 – McVeytown 0 

MCVEYTOWN, Pa. – Burnham punched in a score to break an overtime, scoreless deadlock as the Bulldogs earned their fourth win of the season by a 6-0 score on Sunday afternoon against the McVeytown Eagles. 

With the win, Burnham moves into third place in the Pee Wee standings with three games left to play. 

Burnham is back in action on Sunday, October 19 when it hosts division-leading Kish. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. McVeytown will look to get back on track on Sunday, October 19 when it hosts Derry-Decatur for a 1:00 p.m. affair with the Cyclones. 

Kish 27 – Juniata 6

PORT ROYAL, Pa. – Bennett Harmon returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown and added three more rushing touchdowns on the afternoon as the Kish Indians rolled to a 27-6 road victory over the Juniata Little Indians on Sunday afternoon. 

Harmon sprung loose on the opening kickoff and returned the kick 60 yards to the end zone to put the Indians out in front by a 6-0 score. 

Juniata responded immediately. Ryker Stahl made a house call on a 58-yard carry to tie the contest up 6-6 with 9:42 to play in the opening quarter.

Harmon put the Indians back in front for good early in the second quarter when he scampered to the end zone on a 66-yard carry to build a 12-6 Kish lead. Harmon connected with Quay Vogt on the two-point conversion to build a 14-6 halftime lead for the Indians. 

Harmon added touchdown runs of 75 and 29 yards in the third and fourth quarters, respectively, as Kish pulled away to a 27-6 victory.

Jack Wagner and Emmett Hostetler led the Kish defense with 10 tackles each. Karter Gieza added nine stops in the win. 

Kish is back in action on Sunday, October 19 when it travels to Burnham for a 1:00 p..m showdown with the Bulldogs. Juniata returns to the gridiron on Sunday, October 19 when it hosts Terrace. Kickoff with the Tigers is set for 1:00 p.m.

Terrace 14 – Derry-Decatur 6 

ALFARATA, Pa. – Derry-Decatur struck first, but it was Terrace having the final say as the Tigers rattled off 14 unanswered points to earn a 14-6 victory over the Cyclones on Sunday afternoon. 

Derry-Decatur scored with 6:59 to play in the third quarter to break a second-half deadlock, but Terrace wasted little time in responding. 

The Tigers scored 15 ticks later and added the extra point to take a 7-6 lead. With 2:56 to play, Terrace added an insurance score to wrap up a 14-6 triumph. 

Terrace returns to action on Sunday, October 19 when it travels to Juniata for a 1:00 matchup with the Little Indians. Derry-Decatur will look to get back on track on Sunday, October 19 when it travels to McVeytown for a 1:00 p.m. affair with the Eagles. 

MIDGETS

McVeytown 29 – Burnham 0

MCVEYTOWN, Pa. – Calvin Napikoski rushed for more than 150 yards and two scores and the McVeytown defense was stellar yet again as the Eagles rolled to a 29-0 victory over visiting Burnham on Sunday afternoon. 

Napikoski opened the scoring with a 55-yard touchdown run to put McVeytown out in front by a 6-0 score with 4:23 to play in the first frame. 

In the waning moments of the first quarter, the Eagles added an insurance score from the feet of Alex Weaver as the hosts build a 12-0 lead with 43 ticks to play in the first quarter. Weaver connected with Canyan Brown on the two-point conversion to push the McVeytown lead to 14-0. 

With McVeytown pinned deep in its own end, Napikoski took matters into his own hands and sprinted 90 yards to the end zone to build a 20-0 Eagles lead. Liam Bender found Bentley Harmon on the two-point conversion to extend the McVeytown lead to 22-0 at the intermission. 

Bender scored on a designed keeper with 6:42 to play and Brown added the extra point to finalize a 29-0 victory for the Eagles. 

With the win, McVeytown firmed up its hold on second place in the Midget division. 

McVeytown will look to lock up a championship game appearance on Sunday, October 19 when it hosts Derry-Decatur. Kickoff with the Cyclones is set for 3:00 p.m. Burnham will look to get back on track on Sunday, October 19 when it hosts division-leading Kish-North. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m.

Kish-South 7 – Juniata 0

PORT ROYAL, Pa. – Chase Yoder powered the ball across the goal line on a 65-yard touchdown run and the defense held strong over the rest of the contest as Kish-South picked up a hard-fought 7-0 victory over Juniata on Sunday afternoon. 

Yoder’s score came on the opening play of the game and the youngster added the extra point to put Kish-South up by a 7-0 score in the opening moments of action. 

The Kish-South defense was up to the task all afternoon as it held off Juniata to earn win number two of the season by a 7-0 score. 

Kish-South is back in action on Wednesday, October 15 when it does battle with Kish-North. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. Juniata returns to the gridiron on Sunday, October 19 when it battles Terrace. Kickoff is set for 3;00 p.m.

Derry-Decatur 28 – Terrace 13

ALFARATA, Pa. – Despite trailing at the half, Derry-Decatur surged back with three second-half scores to upend the visiting Terrace Tigers by a 28-13 score on Sunday afternoon. 

Terrace led by a 13-6 tally at the intermission before Derry-Decatur turned the tide in the third. The Cyclones scored twice and pitched a third-quarter shutout to take a 20-13 lead into the final frame. 

Derry-Decatur added a fourth-quarter score to wrap up a 28-13 victory. The win moves Derry-Decatur into a tie with the Tigers for fifth place in the Midget standings with three games left to play. 

The Cyclones return to action on Sunday, October 19 when it travels to McVeytown for a 3:00 p.m. showdown with the Eagles. Terrace returns to the gridiron on Sunday, October 19 when it travels to Juniata for a 3:00 p.m. matchup with the Little Indians.

Week 6 Recap: Postseason Picture Begins to Take Shape

LEWISTOWN, Pa. – The postseason picture is quickly beginning to take shape as the season shifted to October in the Central Keystone Youth Football & Cheer League (CKYFCL) as the league’s squads completed week six of action. 

PEE WEES

Juniata 41 – Derry-Decatur 0 

ALFARATA, Pa. – Easton Hostler and James Gehman each scored a pair of touchdowns and the defense did the rest as the Juniata Little Indians went on the road and picked up a 41-0 victory over Derry-Decatur on Sunday afternoon. 

Hostler opened the scoring with a 14 yard touchdown and later added a nine-yard score to build a 13-0 Juniata lead. 

Ryker Stahl got on the ledger with a one-yard touchdown run and Gehman threw the two-point conversion to send the Little Indians out to a 21-0 lead. 

Gehman later scored on touchdown runs of 3 and 21 yards, before Dominic Lorenz scored a 32 yard touchdown to finish out the scoring.

Juniata returns to action on Sunday, October 12 when it hosts division-leading Kish for a 1:00 p.m. matchup with the Indians. Derry-Decatur returns to the gridiron on Sunday, October 12 when it hosts Terrace. Kickoff against the Tigers is set for 1:00 p.m.

Kish 28 – McVeytown 6

REEDSVILLE, Pa. – Kish ran out to a 22-0 halftime lead and never looked back as the division-leading Indians took another step toward the regular season Pee Wee title behind a 28-6 victory over McVeytown. 

The division-leading Indians scored 15 points in the first quarter and added a score in the second quarter while the defense shined to build a 22-0 lead at the intermission. 

Knox Hartman tallied McVeytown’s only score of the game in the third quarter on a 53-yard touchdown run. 

Kish is back in action on Sunday, October 12 when it travels to Juniata for a 1:00 p.m. showdown for regular season Pee Wee supremacy with the Little Indians. McVeytown will look to get back on track when it hosts Burnham on October 12 at 1:00 p.m.

Terrace 25 – Burnham 0 

JUNIATA TERRACE, Pa. – Terrace took a 19-0 lead into the locker room and added a third quarter score as the offense and defense were firing on all cylinders in a 25-0 victory on Sunday afternoon over the Burnham Bulldogs. 

The victory for the Tigers was their third of the season and avenged an early-season, 12-0 defeat to earn the season split with the Bulldogs. 

Isaac Torres connected with Reece Hagerty on a 30-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring and build a 7-0 Terrace lead after a quarter of play.

Owen Deans added to the Tigers lead with a 30-yard touchdown pass to Jeremiah Karshner. Torres added a score on the ground in the form of a 23-yard rushing touchdown to send the Tigers to the intermission with a 19-0 lead. 

Terrace’s defense got in on the scoring in the third quarter for the game’s final tally. Isaac Torres scooped up a forced fumble and returned it 79 yards for a touchdown to wrap up a 25-0 Terrace win. 

The Tigers return to action on Thursday, October 9 when they host unbeaten Kish-North. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. Burnham will look to get back on track on Sunday, October 12 when it travels to McVeytown for a 3:00 p.m. affair with the Eagles. 

Derry-Decatur 34 – Juniata 12

ALFARATA, Pa. – Derry-Decatur ran out to a 20-6 halftime lead and added a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns as the Cyclones reigned supreme over the visiting Juniata Little Indians by a 34-12 tally on Sunday afternoon. 

Derry-Decatur owned a 6-0 lead after a quarter of play and added a pair of second quarter scores to build a 20-6 lead at the intermission. 

Juniata cut the Cyclones lead to a single score in the third quarter with the frame’s only score as Derry-Decatur clung to a 20-12 lead with a quarter of action to play. 

Derry-Decatur added two scores in the fourth quarter to pick up its second win of the year by a 34-12 tally. 

The Cyclones are back in action on Sunday, October 12 when they travel to Terrace for a 3:00 p.m. affair with the Tigers. Juniata will look to get back on track when it hosts Kish-South on October 12 for a 3:00 p.m. showdown with the Indians.

McVeytown 38 – Kish-South 0

REEDSVILLE, Pa. – Canyan Brown and Alex Weaver rushed for two scores each and the McVeytown defense was sensational yet again as the Eagles rolled to a 38-0 victory on Sunday afternoon over the Kish-South Indians. 

The win was the sixth of the season for McVeytown and moves the Eagles to a two-game advantage over third-place Juniata in the Midget standings. 

McVeytown opened the scoring early in the first quarter when Weaver scampered 45 yards to the endzone for a 6-0 Eagles lead. 

Calvin Napikoski added a score with 47 ticks to play in the first quarter and Cole Laughlin powered in the extra point attempt to send the Eagles to the second quarter with a 13-0 advantage. 

Weaver’s stellar afternoon continued when he stormed into the endzone on a 15-yard carry to extend the McVeytown lead to 19-0. Brown added the extra point for a 20-0 Eagles halftime lead. 

Brown was just getting started with his first-half, extra-point conversion. The youngster sprinted 35 yards to the endzone with 6:55 to play in the third to build a 26-0 McVeytown lead. 

With 4:55 to play, Brown stormed in to the endzone on a 10-yard run for a 32-0 Eagles lead before Dean Armstrong scored on a 35-yard touchdown run to round out the scoring and hand McVeytown a 38-0 victory. 

Defensively, the Eagles were led by a fumble recovery each from the efforts of Owen Fultz and Cael Conner. 

Easton Trutt led the Kish defense with nine tackles, while Knox Wagner chipped in six stops in the loss. 

McVeytown returns to action on Sunday, October 12 when it hosts Burnham for a 3:00 p.m. kick. Kish-South is back in action on Sunday, October 12 when it travels to Port Royal for a 3:00 p.m. affair with Juniata.

Week 5 Recap: Season Reaches the Midway Point

LEWISTOWN, Pa. – In action that was eerily reminiscent of the first half of Saturday night’s contest between Penn State and Oregon, points were at a premium on Sunday afternoon as four games saw the victors pitch shutouts across a busy Sunday of competition in the Central Keystone Youth Football & Cheer League (CKYFCL). 

PEE WEES

Juniata 21 – Burnham 0 

BURNHAM, Pa. – Juniata scored in all three facets of the game as the Little Indians went on the road and secured a 21-0 victory on Sunday afternoon over the Burnham Bulldogs. 

James Gehman got the scoring started when he recovered a muffled punt in the end zone for a Juniata touchdown. 

Following the special teams score, the Little Indians defense got in on the action by forcing a safety to extend the Juniata lead to 8-0. 

Ryker Stahl was impressive on the afternoon rushing for over 125 yards and two scores. Stahl scored on runs of 43 and 85 yards to propel the Juniata offense en route to a 21-0 victory. 

With the win, Juniata sits in second place in the Pee Wee division standings at the season’s midway point. 

Juniata is back in action on Sunday, October 5 when it visits Derry-Decatur for a 1:00 p.m. showdown with the Cyclones. Burnham will look to get back on track on Sunday, October 5 when it travels to Terrace. Kickoff against the Tigers is set for 1:00 p.m. 

Kish 49 – Derry-Decatur 0 

ALFARATA, Pa. – Kish returned the opening kickoff for a score and never looked back as the division-leading Indians rolled to a 49-0 road victory on Sunday afternoon against the Derry-Decatur Cyclones. 

Bennett Harmon fielded the opening kickoff and sprinted 50 yards to the endzone to put Kish on the board. Quay Vogt hauled in a pass from Harmon on the two-point attempt to build an 8-0 Indians lead. 

After forcing a quick Derry-Decatur miscue, Kish capitalized in a hurry. Harmon found Karter Gieza on a 30-yard pattern to extend the Kish advantage to 14-0 after 16 seconds of action. 

The Harmon and Vogt connection struck again midway through the first quarter when Vogt hauled in a 15-yard reception for a score. Kish led by a 20-0 tally after a quarter of play. 

Following a busy first quarter of play, the Indians defense got in on the scoring in the opening moments of the second stanza when Eli Jackson forced a safety to push the Kish lead to 22-0. 

Layton Glick scored on a 41-yard run and Knox Hoover added the extra point to propel Kish to a 29-0 advantage with eight minutes showing on the first half clock. 

The busy first half of scoring for Kish was wrapped up when Hugh Harmon scored on a 26-yard touchdown romp and Glick added the extra point as Kish owned a commanding 36-0 lead at the break. 

Glick scored twice more in the second half on runs of 27 and 18 yards as Kish rolled to a 49-0 win over Derry-Decatur. 

Kish puts its unbeaten mark on the line on Sunday, October 5 when it hosts McVeytown. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. Derry-Decatur is back in action on Sunday, October 5 when it hosts Juniata for a 1:00 p.m. matchup with the Little Indians. 

McVeytown 34 – Terrace 0 

MCVEYTOWN, Pa. – Maddyx Sunderland scored twice to lead McVeytown to a 34-0 home victory over visiting Terrace on Sunday afternoon. 

Four different players scored in the first quarter of action for the Eagles as they rolled to a 27-0 lead after a quarter of play. 

Stetson Bordell got the scoring started with a 40-yard touchdown run before Knox Hartman added a 26-yard touchdown run to build a two-score McVeytown lead. 

Sunderland sprinted in from the 40-yard line and Weston Dobson scampered in from the 13 to build a 27-0 Eagles lead after the first frame. 

After a busy first quarter of action, Sunderland went over the century mark on the ground with a 50-yard touchdown run. The score extended the lead to 34-0 at the intermission. 

The second half of the contest was not played on the decision of the Terrace coaching staff. 

McVeytown is back in action on Sunday, October 5 when it travels to Kish to take on the division-leading Indians. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. Terrace will look to get back on track on Sunday, October 5 when it hosts Burnham for a 1:00 p.m. showdown with the Bulldogs.

Juniata 33 – Burnham 0

BURNHAM, Pa. – Juniata scored three first-half touchdowns and added a defensive score in the third quarter en route to a 33-0 victory on Sunday afternoon over the Burnham Bulldogs. 

The Little Indians struck first with a 70-yard passing touchdown and added the extra point to take a 7-0 lead after a quarter of play. 

Juniata added a pair of rushing touchdowns to build a 20-0 halftime lead. 

With 9:20 to play in the third quarter, the Little Indians recovered a fumble and took it to the endzone to extend their lead to 26-0. 

Juniata added a two-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter to finalize a 33-0 victory for its third triumph of the season. 

The Little Indians are back in action on Wednesday, October 1 when it travels to Mifflin County for a 5:30 p.m. showdown with Kish-South. Burnham will look to get back on track on Sunday, October 5 when it travels to Terrace for a 3:00 p.m. matchup with the Tigers. 

Kish-North 41 – Derry-Decatur 7

ALFARATA, Pa. – Kish-North used a special teams score, interception return touchdown and a stellar offensive attack as the Indians remained unbeaten behind a 41-7 victory on Sunday afternoon against Derry-Decatur. 

Kish-North opened the scoring in the first quarter when Julian Altiery barreled six yards to the endzone and Duke Peachey added the extra point for an early 7-0 lead. 

Peachey got in on the scoring with a five-yard scamper before finding Jase Atherton for a two-point conversion to build a 15-0 Kish-North lead after a quarter of play. 

Derry-Decatur cut the deficit down in the second quarter when Evan Kahley bolted in on a quarterback keeper. Easton Smith added the extra point to trim the Indians lead to 15-7. 

Altiery punched in his second score of the day on a 40-yard run to push the Kish-North advantage to 21-7. 

Peachey added another score in the second quarter when he picked off a Kahley pass and returned it to the endzone before Kannon Moyer punched in the extra point for a 28-7 halftime lead for Kish-North. 

In a busy 4th quarter, Altiery blocked a Derry-Decatur punt and Kannon Moyer scooped up the loose ball and took it to the endzone for a 34-7 Kish-North advantage. Jace Glick finalized the scoring in the contest with a one-yard touchdown run and Atherton punched in the extra point to propel the Indians to a 41-7 victory. 

Kish-North is back in action on Wednesday, October 8 when it travels to Terrace for a 5:30 p.m. affair with the Tigers. Derry-Decatur returns to the gridiron on Sunday, October 5 when it hosts Juniata. Kickoff against the Little Indians is set for 3:00 p.m.

MCVEYTOWN, Pa. – Calvin Napikoski returned a fumble for a score and added three rushing touchdowns to lead the McVeytown Eagles to a 41-18 victory over a feisty Terrace Tigers squad on Sunday afternoon. 

Following a scoreless first quarter of action, McVeytown struck first midway through the second quarter when Napikoski stormed into the endzone on a 45-yard run to build a 6-0 Eagles lead. Cole Laughlin ran in the extra point for a 7-0 McVeytown lead with 6:34 to play in the first half. 

Napikoski added his second touchdown of the day on a 20-yard scamper before Laughlin again added the extra point to build a 14-0 advantage with 3:25 to go until the halftime break. 

Terrace chipped into the McVeytown lead on the ensuing possession. Isaac Torres sprinted 55 yards for the score to carved the Eagles advantage down to 14-6 with 86 ticks remaining in the opening half. 

Alex Weaver had the final say in a busy second quarter of action. Weaver bolted 45 yards to the endzone and Laughlin added the extra point to push McVeytown out to a 21-6 halftime lead. 

Out of the intermission, Napikoski scored for the third time when he recovered a Terrace fumble and ran it all the way to the endzone with five minutes left in the third quarter to propel McVeytown to a 27-6 advantage. 

Both teams scored twice in the final quarter, but it was eventually McVeytown prevailing by a 41-18 tally. Torres scored for the second time on the day with a 45-yard touchdown romp to put the visiting Tigers back on the board. 

Napikoski responded in a hurry with a 45-yard touchdown run of his own before Canyan Brown ran in the extra point for a 34-12 McVeytown lead with 8:45 remaining. 

Liam Bender punched it in from the two-yard line and added the extra point to extend the Eagles lead to 41-12 with 4:25 to play. 

Torres scored again to wrap up the scoring, this time when he hauled in a pass from Terrace quarterback Owen Deans but it wasn’t enough as McVeytown rolled to a 41-18 victory. 

McVeytown is back in action on Sunday, October 5 when it travels to Reedsville for a 3:00 p.m. matchup with Kish-South. Terrace returns to action on Sunday, October 5 when it hosts Burnham. Kickoff against the Bulldogs is set for 3:00 p.m.

Mid-Week Recap: Kish-North and Derry-Decatur Notch Victories

LEWISTOWN, Pa. – One team remained unbeaten while another picked up its first victory of the season as the Midget division of the Central Keystone Youth Football & Cheer League (CKYFCL) took to the gridiron on Wednesday evening. 

Derry-Decatur 21 – Kish-South 6

REEDSVILLE, Pa. – Kish-South struck first but Derry-Decatur stormed back over the final three quarters of play en route to earning its their first victory of the season by a 21-6 margin on Wednesday evening. 

The victory for Derry-Decatur avenged an early-season 12-7 home loss at the hands of the Indians. 

Kish-South owned a 6-0 lead after a quarter of play before Derry-Decatur got on the board in a busy second quarter. 

Derry-Decatur scored twice in the frame on a pair of Easton Smith scores to take a 13-6 lead to the locker room. 

Following a scoreless third quarter, Derry-Decatur added some breathing room with another score from the legs of Smith and the Cyclones added a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter to pick up a hard-fought 21-6 win. 

Derry-Decatur is back in action on Sunday when it hosts unbeaten Kish-North. Kickoff against the Indians is set for 3:00 p.m. Kish-South returns to action on Wednesday, October 1 when it hosts Juniata for a 5:30 p.m. showdown with the Indians. 

Kish-North 12 – McVeytown 0

MCVEYTOWN, Pa. – A midweek slugfest between the top teams in the division saw Kish-North break a scoreless deadlock in the second quarter en route to a hard-fought 12-0 victory over the McVeytown Eagles on Wednesday evening. 

The victory moves Kish-North to a 2 1/2 game lead in the Midget division with five games remaining on the slate and provides an all-important tiebreaker advantage by sweeping the season series with McVeytown. 

Kish-North won the toss and elected to receive and turned in a promising drive to open the contest. After moving the ball deep into McVeytown territory, the Eagles picked off a Kish-north pass to thwart the early Kish-North surge.  

McVeytown returned the favor on their first possession of the contest but another defensive stand, this time from Kish-North forced an Eagles punt as the game remained scoreless after the first stanza. 

Following the scoreless first quarter of action, Kish-North broke the deadlock late in the first half when Duke Peachey found daylight around the right side of the line. Peachey sprinted to the end zone to build a 6-0 Indians lead at the intermission. 

McVeytown took the ball after halftime and tried to mount a game-tying drive but were thwarted again by a stingy Kish-North defense. 

Kish-North added some breathing room early in the fourth quarter following a Jase Atherton interception to set the Indians up with good field position.  Peachey connected with Wyatt Hassinger on a long pass to move into the red zone before connecting with Atherton on a five-yard strike to extend the Kish-North lead to 12-0 after three quarter of action. 

McVeytown was looking to get on the scoreboard late in the game, but Hassinger delivered for the Kish-North defense with an interception to seal a 12-0 victory for the Indians.

The victory was the fourth shutout victory of the season for division-leading Kish-North. 

Kish-North is back in action on Sunday, Septmber 28 when it puts its unblemished record on the line in a 3:00 p.m. showdown at Derry-Decatur. McVeytown will look to get back on track on Sunday, September 28 when it hosts Terrace. Kickoff against the Tigers is set for 3:00 p.m.
