Mid-Week Recap: Juniata Edges Kish-South, 26-14

REEDSVILLE, Pa. – One game was on the docket on Wednesday evening as the Juniata Little Indians travelled to Mifflin County and defeated the Kish-South Indians by a 26-14 tally. 

With the win, Juniata moves into sole possession of third place in the Midgets standings with a 4-3 record. The Little Indians own the tiebreaker with Burnham courtesy of their weekend victory over the Bulldogs. 

Juniata opened the scoring when a 45-yard pitch-and-catch reached the endzone to build a 7-0 Little Indians lead with 7:33 to play in the first quarter. 

Kish-South tied the contest up in the second quarter with a 27-yard touchdown pass to knot the game up, 7-7, at the intermission. 

Out of the halftime break, Juniata took the lead back when a 15-yard touchdown run broke the deadlock to push the Little Indians out in front by a 13-7 tally. 

Juniata held on to its lead until four minutes left in the game. Kish-South took its first lead of the afternoon when an Indians run struck pay dirt and the extra point was converted to put the hosts out in front by a 14-13 score in the waning minutes of action. 

Juniata struck twice in the first 2:18 of the game, first with a passing touchdown and finalizing the scoring with a rushing touchdown to wrap up a 26-14 victory. 

The Little Indians are back in action on Sunday, October 5 when they visit Derry-Decatur for a 3:00 p.m. showdown with the Cyclones. Kish-South returns to the gridiron on Sunday, October 5 when it hosts McVeytown. Kickoff with the Eagles is set for 3:00 p.m.
