LEWISTOWN, Pa. – Mid-week action continued for the Central Keystone Youth Football & Cheer League (CKYFCL) as the Pee Wee division saw a full slate of games on Tuesday evening.
McVeytown 22 – Derry-Decatur 0
MCVEYTOWN, Pa. – Another superb defensive effort and an efficient offense led the host McVeytown Eagles to a 22-0 shutout victory over Derry-Decatur on Tuesday evening.
Calvin Napikoski hooked up with Matthew Hartsock for the first score of the evening on a 20-yard pitch and catch with 4:34 to play in the first quarter to hand the Eagles a 7-0 lead.
Late in the second quarter, Alex Weaver added to the McVeytown advantage with a touchdown run to push the lead to 13-0. Napikoski again connected the Hartsock for a two-point conversion as McVeytown owned a 15-0 lead with 4:56 to go in the first half.
McVeytown’s defense pinned Derry-Decatur deep on the ensuing possession before Hartsock capped off the first half scoring by returning a Cyclones punt 25 yards to the house for a 22-0 halftime lead for the host Eagles.
The second half saw a defensive slugfest ensue as both teams were held off the scoreboard and McVeytown cruised to a 22-0 victory.
Weaver led the defense with five stops while Cole Laughlin added three tackles in the win. Napikoski also got in on the action on the defensive end with a fumble recovery.
Burnham 25 – Terrace 6
JUNIATA TERRACE, Pa. – After a scoreless first quarter, Burnham got on the board in the second stanza and its defense did the rest as the Bulldogs rode home with a 25-6 victory on Tuesday evening over the Terrace Tigers.
Burnham led 6-0 at the half and scored 13 third-quarter points to pull away to a 19-0 advantage as the defense looked to pitch a shutout.
Both teams scored in the final frame to wrap up a 25-6 Burnham victory.
Kish 18 – Juniata 0
PORT ROYAL, Pa. – Entering Tuesday night’s matchup with Juniata, the Kish defense had yet to be scored on. Tuesday was no different as the Kish Indians left Juniata with an 18-0 victory and their fourth straight shutout.
Kish got on the board with a pair of first quarter scores. Duke Peachey capped off the game’s opening drive with a touchdown run off the right side to build an early 6-0 Kish lead. Wyatt Hassinger added a score later in the quarter as the visitors owned a 12-0 lead after the first frame.
Peachey added another score in the second quarter to help the Indians take an 18-0 lead into the locker room.
The defenses shined in the second half as neither team found the endzone, but it was Kish reigning supreme by an 18-0 tally over the host Little Indians. Kish’s defensive efforts were capped off by a Knox Wagner interception in the fourth quarter to help secure the victory.
The CKYFCL is a 501c3 registered non-profit organization benefitting the more than 600 children across a four-county area in Central Pennsylvania. In addition to healthy competition, the league aims to provide an equal opportunity for kids between the ages of 5 and 13 to learn important skills in teamwork while forming friendships and bonds that can last a lifetime.
